I know our body's are compromised - but really???? (edited to ask ??? in op)
This one takes the cake...
as many of you know - one of my only pregnancy symptoms has been INSANE congestion.. I take Zyrtec every day because of it.
this morning was a particularly bad sniffly/snotty morning and (brace yourself)...i hurt myself SNIFFLING....
I sniffled (right nostril) and pulled something in my neck/shoulder.
YES, i will say it again - my name is Jessica and I hurt myself SNIFFLING!!!!!!!!!
ETA: i'm getting nervous - the pain is really bad...and someone just walked by my office and asked why my head is tilted like a puppy. I didn't even realize i was leaning to one side.
What's worrying me is that the pain is in the EXACT location of where i had spinal surgery 3 years ago....should I wait to call the doc until tomorrow??? I'm on my 4th tylenol and NO relief...

if it didn't hurt so bad would've TOTALLY been my response too....
i walked into dave, who was in the bedroom and went, i know we're on a time schedule (we carpool), but i hurt myself in such a dumb way that i didn't think possible...and he squeezed it for me...to try and loosen it up... this one just takes the cake!

It sounds like a pinched nerve. I have gotten that a few times where my head is "stuck" to one side and it hurts too much to try and straighten it out.
You hot and cold packs on it for a couple of days and try to keep moving it so it doesn't stiffen up.

if you're in a lot of pain at the surgery site and you're leaning, i say it can't hurt to call to at least get your doc's opinion.
any way that you can leave work and go home and rest?
i hope you feel better!!!!

Jess I would call now - that isn't something you want to mess around with. I am of the "better safe than sorry" camp! I hope you feel better soon!

that's exactly what i had - a pinched nerve that was compressing my spine...i had an extra bone put in my neck to alleviate the pinch and correct things.. I had surgery within 2 weeks of the diagnosis...

Do you see a chiropractor? I saw mine throughout PG and it helped me with my chronic condition.

are you having any other symptoms, like numbness/tingling in one of your hands? anything else besides the pain in the spot?

no, not as of yet.
At the time - i lost complete strength and muscle control in my right arm. i don't have the 'shooting pain' yet...where it goes from my neck to my arm...
it worries me slightly that tylenol isn't cutting it...since the surgery - ANY pain there has been alieviated with tylenol....
i'm contemplating going for a massage - but i don't want to make it worse...these things can go either way - ya know? it could help OR hurt...

totally agree, i wouldn't have anyone manipulate the area until you get it checked out. because moving things around could make things worse depending on what exactly is going on.
i think it's a good sign that you're not losing sensation or having weakiness in your arms/hands. but i would still get this looked at as soon as you can.

Jess, are you feeling any relief yet???
no - and i tried a good ole fashioned stand by too....
leaning on the wall with a tennis ball to 'target' the location of the pain...but i couldn't get it...it's DEEP in there - wherever it is.
leaving work in a few and i'm looking forward to soaking a towel and warming it in the microwave - to see if that will help...
thank you for asking!

I would call the doctor, but I call the doctor for any pain that doesn't go away. Usually everything is ok. But I would rather be safe than sorry. I hope you feel better.

Jess-
Call your doctor -- DH had a weird headache/ear ache thing last night and we went to Urgent Care and his eardrum ruptured!
The doc we saw said your gut feeling is usually right -- if you don't think this feels okay, call now
Let me know if you need anything as always
