I know this has been posted before-Freezing meals for when baby comes

Since DH and I are pretty much alone after Miss Bean, I figured I should start freezing things soon.

I am due March 7th-when should I start doing this? I don't want things to be gross!

Also, what are some ideas of things that freeze well? Recipes would be great. I hate fish but everything else is okay. I have a crock pot as well as regular cookware.

TIA!

you can usually freeze anything start cooking after new years it will hold up just fine...try things like hearty soups, sauce, potroast, baked ziti anything with a sauce or gravy usually works well

I started about a month before I was due. The nesting instinct was in full force, so it made it easy. Anything in broth or with sauce/gravy typically freezes well. I made Lasagna, Ropa Vieja, two kinds of Soup, Turkey Chilli and Roast beef with gravy. I went a bit overboard but didn't have to cook for like two months and had a huge variety to choose from.

we had frozen:

sauce w/ meatballs & sausage
ckn caccitore
minestrone soup
chili
lemon chicken

You can freeze almost anything and I HIGHLY recommend doing it, it was a LIFESAVER! I'm still trying to make some now!

I cooked 3 weeks before and as the pp said it is a lifesaver. I made sauce with meatballs, eggplant parm, sausage and peppers, soup, and chilli from a crockpot recipe i found. I also bought a few packages of chicken cutlets and had them in the freezer. Chicken cutlets is always something quick and easy to make when the baby comes

I froze one month worth of food and it was a LIFESAVER! All I had to do was defrost it and eat it. I froze everything 1 month before DD was born.

I froze-
2 kinds of chili
Meatballs and sauce
Italian wedding soup
chicken and lentil soup
chicken casserole
chicken patties
shredded chicken w. black beans
chicken chili
taco meat
