I Live South of Sunrise & South of Montauk, how about you? !
I booked a hotel room for Saturday - Monday....DH said he'll stay w/ the house and sump pumps- and generator....
The Residence Inn at Island 16 was booked ! That was my first choice b/c they have the 'kitchen' in the room;
Go away Irene, I don't want the flooding !!!!

I'm thinking about going to Staten Island. My BIL lives in "high" area so they're not an evac. zone. Or I'm going to my mom's, still in Bay Shore but North of Sunrise.

I'm thinking about going to Staten Island. My BIL lives in "high" area so they're not an evac. zone. Or I'm going to my mom's, still in Bay Shore but North of Sunrise.
Go early if you go. They may close bridges.

Thanks. We are going tomorrow AM if we go. I'm just worried it's going to be the same as staying here, or worse.

We do. If we are told we have to go we're headed to my mom's, she's just north of Sunrise. If we have to leave there my BIL and his wife have already told us to come with my mom, they are pretty much right smack in the middle of Nassau county.

I do! We're not planning to go anywhere...maybe to my parents or inlaws just for someone to hang out with! They both live farther south than we do. We know our basement will flood (its a wet basement) but honestly, there is nothing we can do about it, so we're just going to go with it!

If they do where can I find info about the Thrigs Neck Bridge? The news would list all the bridges closed right? I cant leave until Saturday afternoon, but Im sure theyd still be open then. Id like to come home Monday evening.

Karen - thanks ! But I'll be close enough to home - Scott won't leave - and I don't want to be tooo far away either !! There is a pool though ! LOL....and a generator ! LOL...

My mom made us all a set off keys for their house in Middle Village... we all live next to the water...
2 in Broad Channel
1 in Massapequa right on a canal
1 in Amity Harbor right on a canal
and my parents are in Rockaway 1/2 block from the beach...

I don't know how they will announce it but I remember in NC, they close the bridges during the storm. Not hours before but they will during the storm.
I remember because there are always those who want to ride out storms on small islands on the NC coast to "save" their house and officials tell them, don't bother calling 911 or try to cross the bridges. They closed bridges during storms.

Omg!!! Do you think there is a chance they will evacuate North of Sunrise??? I'm just North of Sunrise and was worried but I think North of Sunrise should be ok??!!
