I lost all the pics, videos and memories of DD's first year..
I have so many pictures, videos and had them all organized by date and my computer crashed last night, it will turn on but never gets past the Toshiba page...i am so devasted right now. I have the picture tht are on my Facebook but that is it....all those videos and pictures...i m so sad that they are gone

They aren't all gone. Back them up to an outside drive. Don't let anyone reimage your PC until you back up. Can you try to restore?

There are recovery services where you can send them your hard drive and they can try and recover as much as possible off of them. Have you tried looking into this?

I am so sorry! You should try taking it somewhere to see if they can be saved! I know what your are going through because my flip video camera died on me and I lost ALL the videos of DD's first 7 months. I was devastated. Not a day goes by that I don't get upset over this.

I agree! Just because your system won't boot doesn't mean you lost all of the data. If you don't know someone who works in IT, then you can use a recovery service. Don't give up hope!

I think you should be able to have someone recover them for you!! Good luck - I know how heartbreaking that would be to lose them all.

I am so sorry, this happened to me as well! It's heartbreaking... The videos we took in the hospital the day she was born, I was devestated. Did you happen to save any pictures to a site like shutterfly or anything? Again, so sorry

It's definitely worth it. I know my co-worker brought her computer in & our guys were able to get her stuff back.

It's definitely worth it. I know my co-worker brought her computer in & our guys were able to get her stuff back.
My laptop died last year and I brought it into the office and one of our IT guys was able to get everything off the hard drive. It was just a problem with the power supply and not the whole laptop. Maybe you can talk to someone in IT or as PPs said there are recovery companies out there.

Oh, don't worry! It's not gone!
You can basically take our the hardrive, plug it into another computer and get all the data out. Its not a big deal, call Staples, Best Buy, Geek Squad, something like that KWIM... I'm not sure if they would copy all the files for you to DVDs or what they do exactly? But all is not lost!

This happened to me as well and they were able to recover pretty much everything. As long as it was saved to the hard drive. I lost whatever was saved to the desktop (lesson learned). Don't give up hope just yet!

yes go to a recovery place they can get them off most likely. I would also make it a practice to have a secondary hard drive that you do periodic backups of everything. Its not that much of a expense and not that hard and it could save you from being terrified of loosing your photos/vids/documents.

Please try to use a recovery company!!! We had this issue with our video and pictures of DS after he passed away. First the devastation of losing him and then our computer crashed and then we thought we lost our only memories as well.
We used a recovery service through Dell and got most of what we lost back. We now have 2 back up drives to make sure we never lose them again!

This happened to both my computers and my brother was able to recover everything.. All my pictures and data... Now I burn everything onto cd's and I have a few thumb drives for his pics too...Bring your computer to Best Buy and see what they can do...

This happened to us and it WASN'T lost!!! We had a tech come in and he spent a few hours but he got us everything back
