I love when he is curled up next to me and we both fall asleep while he is nursing.
I am almost at the 6 month mark. I am hoping to continue, I am just having trouble pumping enough the 3 days I am at work.

I just said the same thing to my DH at Todd Jr's check up, that he's gained all this weight because of me! I love BF too, its the best!! I EBF Julia for 11 months, so I hope to do the same with DS.

Awww... thank you Liz. On the 4 days I am with him, I so love nursing him, that is what keeps me going. I don't want to give that up.

Awww... thank you Liz. On the 4 days I am with him, I so love nursing him, that is what keeps me going. I don't want to give that up.
I know the pumping stinks Tara (I'm doing it right now on a Saturday morning at 7AM while everyone else sleeps and do it 5x day on a work day  ) But you can keep doing it! Hang in there!
I do think the support group for other LIF moms would be a great idea- maybe we could meet for coffee (decaf  ) once a month just to share our experiences and introduce new moms to it?

I loved it too! I had a hard time for about 2-3 weeks and then it was smooth sailing as long as I didnt pump. 1 year later, we are down to 1 feeding and I am sort of sorry to see it go.

I'm nearing my 11th month of BFing and I agree - it is the best feeling in the whole world to know that my son grew for 5 months w/out any thing other than my milk...Now that my parents are watching him and I can't pump at my new job, I've been nursing morning and evening and pumping on days when he sleeps at their house.
it's so nice to feel the close bond when he looks up and smiles - i know it soothes him and gives us a chance to rest and relax together..
not to mention - NO BOTTLES to clean!!!
congrats on getting through the tough part...it gets easier as time passes

I BFed for 6 months but my supply really dwindled so I had to stop. I just couldn't keep up with the pumping at work anymore. I had a love/hate relationship with it but I do miss it so much. I loved the bond it gave us.

I had a rough start with BFing and can definitely agree that it got much easier at 3 month. I also found that it got noticeably easier at 6 months and for every month after that.
Good job make it through those first few months

I just wanted to bump this post. I know some of us BFing moms really have a rough start. And sometimes seeing a post like this can help just push through one more day 
I all of us BFing moms. Regardless if you BF 1 day, 1 month, 1 year, etc. Great job girls!

when i got pregnant with my dd last year, i made a list of alot of things i felt like i wanted to change the way i did with my ds..my NUMBER 1 thing was to at least TRY nursing my baby..i was SOOOOOO totally against doing it with my son..i felt uncomfortable about even discussing it..
i am so completely comfortable (almost 4 months in now) with BFing my dd, and i feel sad that i never tried it before..i literally almost quit doing it like 5 or 6 times..but i pushed through all the pain, exhaustion, and lousy feelings just long enough to experience how INCREDIBLE it is to be able to nourish my baby with my own body..
its truly amazing..
and i owe it to my bff (beaviss80) i would NEVER have done it without her

I have encouraged many people who felt the same way and they ALWAYS were happy they stuck it out and nursed. If you never have its just hard to imagine what it will be like so many just go with what they know instead of trying. Many choose not to for other reasons too. I had a real tough time with #3 but stuck it out and like anything hard it gets easier with time. Either choice, just being a mom is the best!

Seriously, BFing has been SUCH a DIFFICULT journey and challenge for Alexa and I. I worked at it EVERY SINGLE DAY!!
Finally at 7 W 5 D my baby took to the breast and although we are still working on perfecting it I LOVE every moment of it!!!!
I hope to be able to continue at least as long as you have with Ryan!!

What a great post!
The first two months for me were awful, I nearly gave up a hundred times - I didn't have enough milk, my DS wasn't latching well, he was hungry all the time so I was stuck on the couch for hours on end and he was allergic to dairy so I had to change my diet. My mother kept telling me it would get better; I thought she was crazy!
Then it did get better and I love the moments I have with my son, I love knowing that he is getting the best food I can offer him at this stage, I love how easy it is those nights that he gets up, I love not having to pack bottles, I love that it is FREE! I am so happy I stuck it out, for me it is really worth the effort

I am only on week 7 of EBF, but I totally enjoy it. I actually like that I am the only one that can feed DD. Sometimes it is not the most convenient, but I don't care. I feel like it's my job as her om to feed her. And yes, the first few weeks were ROUG, but if you can make it through that, it's the easiest and most rewarding thing I've ever done. DD gained almost 3 lbs in her first month of life - and I did that for her! Makes me feel so proud. I do have to go back to work in 5 weeks, but I will pump what I can and BF in the morning and evenings. It is going to kill me to have to give her a bottle, but I'll get through it.
I too think that new moms should be encouraged to give Bfing their best shot. It is really hard at first, but it gets a little easier every day. And it's such an amazing bonding experience. I too love BFing!!!

I BFed my first daughter until she was 11 months. I wanted to keep going but I was pg with #2 and it was getting uncomfortable.
Madelyn had been weaned for 6 months when I gave birth to Eliza.
Eliza had some minor complications at birth and had to go to the NICU. It was awful because all I wanted to do was BF her! It took 6 or 7 hours before they brought her to me- and she'd had a bottle of formula by then. Let me tell you, there was no feeling like the sense of calm and rush of happiness I felt the first time Eliza latched in the hospital. She was a natural!
It really is a HUGE commitment- and I understand fully why some women give it up. However, the sleepless nights, soreness, and other complications are so temporary. I have loved eevry second (as exhausting as they used to be) of BFing my babies.
Currently, Eliza is EBF at almost 6 months. We are about to start solids and I can't begin to explain how bittersweet that is. She's grown so strong (20 pounds!!) and I know that is 100% because of ME. Now her nutritional needs will be shared by me and solids. I'm so happy she's growing up, but so sad that this is the beginning of her being more independant of me.
I swear, I've loved the experience so much that I've often thought about changing careers and becoming a lactation consultant. I adore providing positive support to other BFing mothers. I feel such a kinship with them.
