I love my DH and I love me some football, but hell no!
Now that's a serious labor of love! Chicago school teacher Colleen Pavelka knows how much her husband loves the Bears. Apparently, she loves him even more.
The perfect wife? Ladies, would you do this for your husband? Let us know. Colleen chose to have the birth of their second child induced a few days early so Mark Pavelka could attend Sunday's NFC Championship showdown between the Bears and the New Orleans Saints.
The baby was due Monday. But when Colleen went in for an appointment Friday afternoon, her doctors told her she could opt for an early delivery. She decided to do so.
After nearly six hours of labor, 8-pound, 9-ounce Mark Patrick Pavelka was born Friday night.
Colleen Pavelka plans to catch the game on the plasma screen TV in her hospital room, while baby Mark Patrick is bundled up in the Bears receiving blanket his grandmother bought him for Christmas.

OK, after re-thinking this, considering my 2nd son's middle name is Mattingly, as in Don Mattingly of the Yankees... I would probably do this for DH if it was game 7 of the World Series. Payback would be awesome!!

I am very lucky DH is not into sports!! I on the other had - I am. So it would really depend, but no sports team or player is worth it to me!

sick - but I would probably do it. If the jets were one game away from the superbowl I am not sure how into helping me breathe during labor my DH would be. I would have to help him through it!

same here...DH joked about wearing his Bears jersey to the delivery room...AND he and the freakin' doc were distracted enough talking about the US Open Tennis match the night before while I was PUSHING, so I can ONLY imagine....

Re: I love my DH and I love me some football, but hell no!
I gave birth on Superbowl Sunday 2005, so I know firsthand how DHs can be. He asked me to drag it out for as long as possible so he could watch the game in the waiting room! GRRR.
I actually gave birth in time for DH to watch from half-time on in my hospital room. But I wouldn't have interfered with the natural flow of things!

No, but I'm delivering my next in Chicago if you get a plasma tv in room.

I wouldn't do it. To me nothing is more important than the birth of your child.
As much of a Steelers fan that DH is, if his team were in the superbowl and he had tickets there is no way he would go. DH is always saying how Matthew and I are the most important things in his life.
