I love this song and it's making me a teary mess...just had to share

Ever since we found out we're having a girl, I keep having the "My Little Girl" portion of a beautiful song "Soliloquy" from one of my favorite musicals, Carousel, in my head.

I think this is one of the most amazing things ever written in musical theater...and it totally encapsulates what goes through the mind of a father. He goes on and on about how his boy is gonna be just like him, and then he has the realization it could be a girl (which it turns out to be). The character in the musical isn't very likable, he's quite a jerk...but you do feel for him in this song, especially when it hits him "You can have fun with a son, but you gotta be a father to a girl."

I saw the revival years ago and bawled my brains out- saw it twice actually, and then, my beloved Hugh Jackman played the role in a concert version at Carnegie Hall that I was lucky to attend. How perfect was that? My favorite musical and my FAVORITE actor!

Which version are you listening to? John Raitt, original broadway cast?

Though my favorite performance, Michael Hayden, isn't on youtube- UGH. I need that bootleg NOW.

I knew it! I have to give you the recipe of the York Sensational Brownies though- WOAH they are for real. Actually you can google it and you'll find it,I think it's a Hershey recipe.

I have to try the oreos though...

damnit now I have to go have a brownie. Good thing have of them are gone from last night!
