I mailed a bill and it got lost in the mail...
should i cancel the check or just wait for it to turn up? i called the company directly and made the payment over the phone so i dont have to worry about a late charge or anything. but if the check turns up they said they cant hold it, it willl just be a double payment with a credit on our account.
DH is worried that if someone finds it they may try to cash it. but he doesnt want to pay a $30 cancel check fee either...lol.
what would you do?

it probably will turn up. If it wasn't made payable to the person who tries to cash it, it most likely won't get cashed especially if it was made payable to a company. The worst that will happen is that it will be a credit on your next bill.
Consider going online with your future payments.

believe me, i've tried to convince DH of this! hes paranoid that someone will hack into the computers and get all of our account information so he refuses to pay anything online!

I've been doing this for over 15 years and never had a problem. The websites are secure. I've been with Citibank for the majority of the time and they are excellent.
I've never had a late payment either or a lost check. He is paranoid. Is he computer saavy? Maybe he doesn't know how secure the transactions are?
