I miscarried yesterday. Update
Is it better to let it finish on it's own or get a DNC??
I am still cramping and one part of me wants to get over it so I can move on, but a DNC scares me.
What do they exactly do?
I know this happens to a lot of women, but I am really said and I am so scared for the next time.
Update Dr said it looks like my body took careof it for me. I have to go back in two weeks to make sure. So the healing begins.

Re: I miscarried yesterday.
I am so sorry for your loss.
As far as your question, that seems to be one for your doctor to answer. You said you already miscarried? Probably your doctor will have you come in and do an internal and a sonogram. If everything's out, it's out.
As for myself, I was scheduled for a D&C, but began miscarrying 2 or 3 days before. My doctor prescribed me a medication to contract my uterus to help things along. I suppose it worked because when I saw her in the office 3 days later, the miscarriage was almost complete. She sort of suctioned the rest out in the office. I avoided the D&C.
Hope you are feeling better soon...

I began to bleed very heavily yesterday and (not to be gross) the Dr pulled something out of me that looked like tissue.
I had to go to an emergency DR becasue mine wasn't avaiable and this Dr had no ultrasound machine.
Today I am going to get the ultrasound to see what needs to come next. The Dr made it seemed like I had the choice.
How soon did you try again?
Thanks for your support.
Hope you are feeling better soon...

Is a DNC like an abortion?

Re: I miscarried yesterday.
I'm sorry for your loss
I had a m/c in March and chose to have a D&C. I believe that they dilate the cervix and remove what is in the uterus. However, it is my understanding that a D&C is not the same procedure that is used for most abortions.
The D&C was fairly quick and while I had some cramping afterwards, it was not physically painful.
I was undergoing IF treatments when I became PG and was able to try again fairly quickly. I waited until I got my first AF after the m/c and then I started IVF.

Re: I miscarried yesterday. Update
I'm sorry for your loss.
I m/c at 8 weeks and opted not to have a D&C, even though my Dr. gave me the option. After going thru IVF, I felt poked and prodded enough. It took 2 weeks for my body to expel the fetus.
I had for my next AF, then called the RE to prep for another FET.

I am happy to hear you didn't have to experience a D & C if anything, its terrifying!

Jen I am so incredibly sorry for your loss!! If you ever want to talk I'm here for you!! take it one day at a time and allow yourself enough time to heal and grieve!
ETA- when I miscarried in January, it started happening naturally but I opted for the D&C b/c it was just too emotionally and physically painful to go through!

Re: I miscarried yesterday. Update
i am so sorry for your loss i had a D&C at 9wks back in march since the baby's heart stopped beating and I didn't MC on my own. It's quick and relatively painless (you are put out for it) please try and stay positive
ETA:
Also i was able to start trying again after 2 weeks and I'm PG again so don't worry but take things at your own pace!
