Re: i need a good excuse..

You have to let the plumber in.
You have a dentist appointment.
You have to pick up your parents from the airport.
You threw your back out.
You have an "appointment".

Re: i need a good excuse..

Car problem. Things that require planning (i.e., airport drop off or pick up) you may have provided enough notice to the office and/or they may still ask for you to come in.

Car problems can happen at any time and if you have to go to the mechanic that alone can be an all day fiasco.

Anything with a doctor they may ask for a note.

When I was in college, I had a dentist appointment and my professor asked for a note. I gave him a note and he even called my dentist to confirm if I was really there.

Car problem is the way to go if you need to call in.

Re: i need a good excuse..

See, I always try to think of something that happened already that I can use as an excuse and then I tell myself that I never got to "use" that incident because then I feel I'm jinxing myself. I never use the car problems as an excuse because I am convinced then I actually will have one! I'm weird, though.

I used to be the same way- I had a very unreliable car and never wanted to use that as an excuse because with my luck it would happen for real a week later. Chat Icon

I broke out in a rash on my chest a few weeks ago and really needed a day anyway- I called my principal and he was fine with it.

I always feel guilty when I call in.

That's why I never do

Re: i need a good excuse..

Just say you have a personal emergency you need to tend to-- and if anyone asks-- just say, it's personal and would rather not talk about it.

It also depends if you will be home and reachable if someone needs to contact you-- so, you don;t want to say you need to wait for the plumber- if you are out and about all day.

My secretary always says she is taking her husband to the emergency room, or one of her siblings had a limb amputated.
