I need a lesson
I read that a New House majority leader was picked. What does this mean for the average citizen?
What effect can/does a majority leader have on my life?

IMO, the majority/minority leader is a figurehead for the political party. They are usually the person that speaks to the press when issues break, etc. They do have power but moreso in DC and for fund raising - not anything over the average citizen.

IMO, the majority/minority leader is a figurehead for the political party. They are usually the person that speaks to the press when issues break, etc. They do have power but moreso in DC and for fund raising - not anything over the average citizen.

The Majority Leader of the United States House of Representatives acts as the leader of the party that has a majority control of the seats in the house (at least 218 of the 435 seats). The Majority Leader works with the Speaker of the House and the Majority Whip to coordinate ideas and supporting votes for legislation. This is what I remember from what I was taught in school.
