I need a new OB. ETA: Has anyone used Dr. Paul Byrne?

I'm so disappointed. The OB that I adore (Dr Plancher) is not in-network for my insurance, and it will cost me too much money to go to him.

Can anyone recommend an OB that they LOVE LOVE LOVE? I would prefer someone that delivers at South Nassau. Male or Female- does not matter. Must have good bedside manor and be caring.

Please do not recommend Dr. Dean. A few people that I know have used him and do not recommend him.

Thanks!

ETA: Thanks for all of the suggestions. I do appreciate them all!

Has anyone used Dr. Paul Byrne? Any feedback on him?

Re: I need a new OB

I really liked Long Island Women's Health Care Associates in Bellmore, they deliver at South Nassau and they are not too far from you Chat Icon There are two OBs - Gates and Glasser, both women - that deliver there, but the practice has (I think) three other OBGYNs.

The delivered DS and the only reason I switched was b/c I moved. Chat Icon

Thanks, LB. I know you have recommended them to me in the past. Dr. Glasser has moved, I think. I don't think that practice has any delivering OB's any more. Chat Icon

Hi LizChat Icon I don't know if you care if it's a man or woman, but i go to a wonderful OB (male) that delivers at Winthrop. Dr. Jeffrey Miller at University Plaza OB & Gyn in Garden City. There are more Drs there, too, but I LOVE Dr Miller. I cannot say enough about him! He was really there for us with all we went through with Ethan, visited Ethan everyday he was there in the NICU, and so much more. Hope you find a great one!Chat Icon

Dr. Dean! I met with him when I did my hospital tour and afterwards he came to see me and DS. He was so so nice and even gave out his card in case I needed something before I went for my six-week check.

Re: I need a new OB. ETA: Has anyone used Dr. Paul Byrne?

Paul byrne is a pretty nice guy. .. His wife who is the office manager threw me in the deep end when she had did a "meet and greet" interview when I was tehre for the first time pregs. Just some very inappropriate mannerisms such as keeping the door open for all to hear while asking me and my husband personal questions... yelling out to her other patients while interviewing us.. pushing cord blood, pushing her class, it drove me to dump obgyns completely and head to the nearest midwife. > I highly recommend not pursing his wife as a doula. There are several complaints about her on other doctor sites. I also just recently found out a family member of mine used to work at Byrne's office and said the same thing.. He is a great guy his wife not so much a great person..If you need a recommendation for a doula. i am currently interviewing doula's and I can recommend one or two for you that I have liked so far. SHe is the last person I would want is her as a doula.

I used them too. Dr. Tomlinson has the most horrible bedside manner. And makes you feel terrible when something is going on with you...Dr Oh was my primary, but I never saw her until the day I was leaving the hospital...

I don't know what you have heard about Dr. Dean, but he is the head of OB at SNCH...Can't get a much better doctor then that....He delivered my DS. I ended up with an emergency c-section and he was wonderful. Can barely see the scar...I was happy because he actually listened to me when I knew something was wrong when I was in labor....I am switching to him when I move in a few months...

Wow, I guess we had totally different experiences! Every time I had an issue, he had me come right over to SNCH or the office and checked me out. He never made me feel bad and was proactive in treating me. Dr. T does talk kind of fast though! I'm sorry you had a bad experience with him.

So funny, I was so confused when I read this because I thought you were a patient of theirs, but then read Plancher and I got completely thrown off Chat Icon

FUnny to read this - I was with this practice years ago when Dilena and Biordi were there. I went to where Dilena went to - he is THE best. Anyway...2 friends of mine just delivered with Hanauer practice and both also have bad taste - they dropped ball on things. My one friends son had the worst cuts on the top of his head from the instrument they used to break her water....never heard of this happening before to any poor baby. You should see this baby's head! It's frightening what they did to him!

Hi,

I also used Dr. Plancher and ADORE him. He was out of network for me but I called the office and spoke to him. He said he would accept my insurance payments out of network. Why not give him a call and see?

Good luck!
