i need help spending money
last year, i had cataract surgery. a few months into my recovery, the dr said that i was one of the lucky few who would need a follow up procedure (on each eye).
to prep for this, i maxed out my FSA contribution.
turns out that i don't need the second procedure. i have not spent very much FSA/HRA money and the year is over half over.
help me spend this money!
i'll be checking out the FSA store... but i'm wondering if there are a few things you've been able to spend FSA money on that might be considered "out of the box" and something i might not think about.
thanks.

I never have a problem using up any FSA money.... I know you don't need a prescription anymore, but you could get "prescription" sunglasses from your doctor. First aid kits. It's always a good idea to have some around. Car, home, etc. Hand sanitizer counts. You could get a 55 gallon drum of it.... Blood pressure cuffs and other monitoring devices.

thanks!! prescription sunglasses... why didn't i think of that one?? i have a very, very tiny adjustment/prescription for distance. i can get a pair of nice sunglasses with that prescription!!
i'll double-check our camping first aid kits to see if they are lacking.

You are now allowed to carry over $500 of unused funds into the next year. Your plan has to opt into this, however, so call and ask if they participate.

i'm looking through things right now. so far, i've found my OTC allergy meds, some pain killers, zicam rapidmelts, eye drops, vitamins (with a script), stool softener (i take iron).
i'm also finding out that therapeutic massages count... just need a script.
still looking.

i believe our plan does allow for some rollover... i think they told us that it's only $300. i will be calling to confirm.
i have about $2000 to burn, even if i can rollover $300.
totally a first world problem and a good problem to have... but yikes lol

If you have a scrip, dancing lessons count as an expense.

Where does one get a prescription for dance lessons though?

It would be akin to physical therapy. Your primary care physician should be able to write one. It would be the same for therapeutic massage. I had a prescription for massage while pregnant to help alleviate pressure on my spine because my son was breech. My insurance even covered a portion of the visits.
