I need new cookware...
After 9 years I am giving in and looking for a new set.
Can you recommend yours and why you love it?
I like to cook healthy (the majority of the time), so I think I want to stick with non-stick.
TIA!

We have All Clad and really like it. We got the stainless set for our wedding but separately purchased the non-stick fry pan since I have a tendency to burn things Both the stainless and non-stick have been great and really easy to clean (once I bought some of that Bar Keepers Friend cleaner for the stainless).

I love my Calphalon! We have a cheaper set that was bought for us from target (everyday calphalon or something) and I have added some extra pieces over time from the regular collection.
Cleans like a breeze - can practially use a paper towel to wipe it when you're done with no residue.
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! And it's not as outrageously priced as some of ther other stuff out there...

Re: I need new cookware...
I will only use GreenPan. They are the best post and pans out there. I used to hate cooking but now because of these pans I love it.
They are pretty new to the market. There are write ups everywhere about them. They do not use PTFE in the making of the pans and they can withstand heat up to 850 degrees. Plus they are no stick and cannot be scratched. I have everyone they make so far
I bought them from HSN who also sponsors this website. It is the only place as of now to get them. Here is the website:Pans

Re: I need new cookware...
I also cook pretty healthy food.... not too much frying/fat. I personally would recommend you to avoid nonstick. that coating actually leaches off into your food... and has been detected in the blood stream of EVERY american ever tested for it
I got off the nonstick wagon, and own a euopean potset similar to all clad. Allclad is by far the best made pots available in the US, and gives the best cooking surface. It distributes heat evenly, so there are few hot spots, and they're stainless steel, so if you cook something acidic like tomato sauce, the sauce won't develop a metalic taste (as it would in an anodized aluminum pot with a fading nonstick surface). Also, you will never have to replace stainless pots, so its much more cost effective, despite the initial larger $$ investment.
For casseroles or stews that perk in the oven or stove for hours, you want to keep the moisture in the pot... so lecreuset pots (enameled cast iron) are best. They also are not terribly sticky, and reasonably easy to clean-up.
For the times I actually fry food, I swear by good old fashioned seasoned cast iron. It will be sticky for the first year or so, but after it becomes thoroughly seasoned, it is more nonstick than 'nonstick' and it doesn't have the chemical coating. It also only improves with time. To take care of cast iron, merely rinse crud off with water and a sponge (no detergent), and gently dry the pan on low heat on the stove for a couple minutes (to prevent any rusting). I swear it's worth the weight and effort to develop the 'seasoning'.
hope this helps...

Be careful with nonstick the coating we found out comes off with heat and studies found teflon and other chemicals in the spinal cord of adults and the fetus of unborn children....

Re: I need new cookware...
When DH told me he wanted to register for non stick Calphalon, I was worried. I had heard the same things about it being in your blood stream and all that, and was wary.
I did my own research (as you should too) and we felt that as long as we knew the best conditions for the non stick coating from the start, that we could protect ourselves and still have the convenience of the coating.
We baby these things like you would not believe. We don't stack them and try extremely hard not to scratch them. We only use plastic utensils with them, wash them the way they recommend with no abrasives, and we don't overheat them to the point that the coating will break down.
We know the coating won't last forever and the danger of contamination is higher the longer you use them. We don't plan on having them for another 20 years. But we do have backup Farberware without the non stick coating too, and cast iron, etc.
