I have a non tv monitor sleep positioner...they are all the same. I got mine at Target for $10. Bottles...go for Dr Brown's! They are the best...they helped Alyson with her gas so much that there are times she won't even burp!

monitor- I recommend the angelcare... some think its a little extreme... but for me its been wonderful... If it wasnt for that alarm/monitor Id be in his room every 5 minutes to make sure he's still breathing...
a baby tub- I have the one with the shower...and HATE it.... When he was a newborn...i just use the incline thing that came w/ it..and put it in the sink, then when he got to big for the sink...I either put that thing in the big tub, or I just bathed with him...
Now- I either bath with him OR use the Tubside Bath Seat- I like it!
Gates- I dont know which one I have...and as of right now, its still in the box
sleep positioner- If you are gonna co-sleep I would recommend the Deluxe snuggle nest... if not I used the "Inclined to Sleep"
thermometer- I have a reg. rectal (digital reading) and I also have the ear one....no complaints here
Breast pump- If you want for occasional use... the Medala Single Deluxe Battery/Electric Breast Pump is good... for often use: the girls on here have said great things about the Medala Pump In Style
Bottles- I rec'd Dr. Browns

monitor, the one with the tv thing or no? --You may need to try a few to find one that doesn't get interference from your electronic equipment such as cordless phones, or from neighbors if you live in an apartment.
A baby and toddler tub... --I was happy with the Safer Bather for the sink and Eurobath for the tub.
travel system --Don't do it. Its a mediocre stroller. Go with a light and convenient snap and go/universal carrier, and then get a better stroller.
saftey gates --Depends on location, configuration.
sleep positioner --Don't need one. Can be a risk.
thermometer --Digital rectal, whichever has fastest reading.
breast pumpp set --Medela Pump in Style
bottles --Impossible to know which baby will like best. Lots are worth trying.
highchair that hooks on to table for traveling --The "Me Too" chair is great and really light.

Re: i need recs for certain things such as which ....
We have a fisher price monitor and it was always fine until we moved into this apartment and we get interference now from downstairs.
I have the blue infant to toddler tub -- it's a pretty regular common one. We loved it because of the hammock which made it easier to bathe her when she was little, but she's 5 months now and growing out, so we are going to be picking up the tubside bather seat soon.
I have a graco travel system and absolutely LOVE it. I don't have any problems with it being too cumbersome and my sister and I really comparison shopped and the metrolite isn't too heavy and was a lot easier to maneuver then some of the more expensive models. Plus the infant seats that come with them are the best.
Safety Gates -- we don't use them yet.
Sleep Positioner -- just got a basic one for like $14.99 from BRU.
Bottles -- we tried the dr. brown's and she didn't like them and spit up more from them. We ended up using the playtex nurser system with disposable drop in liners and they've been great for us and very easy to use/clean.
Breast Pump -- I had the medela pump in style and liked it more even then the one we had in the hospital to use.
high chair -- we have the aquarium one by fisher price and she loves the toys on it!! They entertain her while I do dishes and serve dinner and stuff.
