I need some hugs and a vent.....
I am out $3000.00 because the cruise company I booked our surprise anniversary cruise went belly up- and took my money from my CC and charged it to themselves! The good news is it is on a CC, the cruise line is based in NJ I am in NY. I called NJ consumer afafirs and they are backlogged- good thing Nassau county is willing to help me- NCL will not tell me anything- and these sleazy people walked away with my money and probably thousands of other peoples money. I could sure use some hugs right now. TIA! Always get travel insurance, I am glad we did- but who knows what is going to happen- I do not even want to go on this cruise if all gets straightened out. the travel agency is Crusie value Center based out of East Brunswick, NJ.
UPDATE #1: The Consumer Affairs of NJ just called me. They have a lot of complaints about this. I am glad I have someone on my side. I will keep u all posted if anyone is interested on this. I wonder if this is going to be on the news tonight?

We are doing that now. NCL(Norweign Cruise lines ) is trying to decide what to do. I cannot believe someone would do something so sleazy!!! ( charge the money to them and not the cruise line!)

Have you looked over on cruisecritics.com - there are several posts about this!
I'm so sorry - the companies are NOT supposed to charge your card to them - they are supposed to charge your card to NCL. I hope you get this worked out soon - this must be very upsetting I could only imagine what you are going thru

BTW did you purchase travel insurance - b.c depending on where you got it from you might be covered thru that for this - I think if you got it thru the TA that Best price cruises is working with that - but if you got it elsewhere like insuremytrip - I bet you could get help thru that.

best cruises is only working with recent bookings. We have travel ins they are working with us, as well as NCL and the CC company. The creep who stole our money left me a message on my machine telling me he is filing chapter 11. I can dispute the charge or get a lawyer! NCL is really trying to work with everyone involved. I am so glad we have insurance and a CC that it is on. I have to go to Consumer affairs in LI tomorrow, and faxed to Consumer affairs in NJ tonight. It is just so aggravating. I hardly slept last night.... I feel robbed, and my stomach is killing me. I know I have my health, etc but I am so angry at the situation. I am so soured on this trip- I do not even care if we go now.

OMG I feel horrible for you - I hope they get what they deserve. It looks like they screwed out a LOT of people. I hope it all works out - but don't let a TA spoil a wonderful cruise - it wasn't the cruiseline that screwed up it was the TA and once you are on the boat in the warm weather in those clear blue waters hopefully you will forget the bad experience. Keep us updated with what happens and I hope they get what they have coming!!!!
