I need someone to tell me it's ok
I have a tumor that I need to have looked at by a surgeon. The surgeon now wants to see me on the 4th. I would have to take the day and I am struggling with that due the fact that my students are constantly being pulled for random field trips AND They have the speaking part of their final begins on the 12th. I am having a really hard time with it.
Basically I need a kick in the tushy and I need someone else to tell me it's ok to take the day off.

TAKE THE DAY! you sound like me my first few years teaching. your health and well-being come first. this is why we are given sick and personal days. take the day! i wish you the best of luck and hope everything is just fine!

Thank you all. I made the appointment I am just having a hard time with it because of the timing. This is my 13th year and I still don't take off unless I am on death's door, I guess that's why I still have over 100 days even with 2 maternity leaves under my belt.

I'm like this too. If you had any other job it wouldn't even cross your mind not to take the day but you don't want it to effect the kids. But you come first!

I am the same way you are, but what I've learned since getting pregnant is that I come first. I work in the school that has been infected with swine flu and actually made the decision myself that I was not going back to work the whole week and maybe more. Good luck and remember you are your number one priority!!!
