I need to get homeowners insurance looking for reccs
We are buying a house that has a an underground tank. The sellers wouldn't negotiate that. We will be abandoning it and putting one above ground as soon as we buy it but we have to get homeowners insurance first. Can anyone reccomend something to do?

it is going to be hard, but if you let the insurance company know you will be doing this, they may let you get insurance under that stipulation. Do you have any insurance where you live now? you always can call your agent and ask them.
Let me see if i can find anything out (since i am an agent)

no we rent and this is our first home. I just don't want to have pay such a high premium if this is something we are going to have done literally the day we close ya know what I mean?

We have state farm and have not had any problems. We even had some damage from the rain storm in march and we filed a claim with them and within 2 days an adjuster came to the house and assessed the damage and wrote us a check.

I dont think State Farm is one. The quotes I got were from companies I had never heard of

I have no idea about the tank thing but I have Liberty Mutual, at the Wantagh office, I worked with Ken.
Worst that can happen is they say no, give em a try.

this is what totally bugs me - there are tens of thousands of these things on the island and I know these people have homeowner's insurance. I guess I will have to do alot of calling around. It just stinks because it's something we are going to take care of immediately
