I never knew getting a prescription filled could be so difficult! And a question about HCG trigger.
I got a prescription on Saturday for Novarel, which I am supposed to bring to my appointment tomorrow. I went to Target to get it filled yesterday, but they have to order it. Find out today that the place they order it from doesn't have it and won't have it for weeks!! I went to three other pharmacies. They guy at Duane Reade looked at me like I had three heads, and Kmart and Walmart both have to order it. So I called my doctor's office and ask them what I should do. They have a pharmacy in the medical complex they are in that carries it so I am going to have to go pick up my prescription from Target, then bring it over to get filled ASAP. I like Target because the prescriptions don't cost as much there!
OK enough of my rant. My question - those who do the HCG trigger, how much does it usually cost? So far my meds have been really inexpensive, which is great. Clomid was only 90 cents for 5 days at Target. Metformin was 1.74 at CVS and 90 cents at Target. I have started going to Target because they are cheaper. I just want to know what I should expect for the Novarel.

Re: I never knew getting a prescription filled could be so difficult! And a question about HCG trigger.
Hi - I had a similar issue (I posted here a couple of weeks ago about the problem I had). I was also told by my pharmacy that it's on manufactur back order. I was lucky enough to be able to find a pharmacy that had one in stock.
With my insurance, I think I paid just under $10.00 for the HCG tigger.
ETS: I would ask the pharmacy you normally deal with if they could at least order one or two to have in stock in case you need it again. (and of course, here's that you don't! )

Thats crazy its on backorder!! I must have missed your post! Thats a good idea about asking them to order a few - I'll do that tonight when I pick up the script. And $10 - thats good. I was afraid it wasn't going to be a lot more!
Thank you!!

Re: I never knew getting a prescription filled could be so difficult! And a question about HCG trigger.
I got the generic (not-premixed) HCG at CVS for a $10 copay. When I needed Ovidrel, which is the premixed syringe, I had to go to a specialty pharmacy - Rockville Centre Pharmacy - and I paid $50 for it, even with insurance. But I think I have a co-pay deductible thing so I'm not sure if it will always be that much.
By the way, if you need a regular HCG - the not pre-mixed one - I have an extra that I never used. I'm in Nassau County, FM me if you need it.

Also, I forgot to mention, that when I went to the other pharmacy that had it (I think it was walgreens) I didn't have my prescription card with me (and couldn't remember the name of the company we use), I had to pay out of pocket for it, and it was $53, I was surprised because I thought it would be much more. I just had to send in the receipt to my prescription plan they will reimburse me.

Just be sure it hasn't been opened. HCG and Progesterone aren't any good one month after the metal cap has been broken off.

90 cents for clomid at target???
I had my 5 dollar co-pay and looks like insruance covered 6 something so they're charging close to 12 dollars for what target is charging for 90 cents???

Never opened, its still sitting in the box. Never responded to Clomid so I couldn't use it. I used Ovidrel for my injectible cycles.

Wow thats really cheap for Rx at Target. I have never heard of getting them that cheap! Is that through your insurance, or without insurance?
When I needed the trigger, no one had it except the pharmacy in Stony Brook but RSNY.
Good Luck!

I can't believe target is so cheap. I haven't had to pay much, I really don't even remember. but when i needed something in a day or so, my RE had this pharmacy in brooklyn deliver it to me.

Re: I never knew getting a prescription filled could be so difficult! And a question about HCG trigger.
I used Pregnyl for my hCG trigger and my local CVS had it. Maybe you can see if you would be able to get a different brand trigger.
Also, I've heard that Walmart has Clomid on it's discount perscription list. Some people have gotten it there w/o insurance for dirt cheap!
