I passed my one hour!! And a question about iron/anemia

I'm so happy I passed it!! I was so nervous I was going to fail lol

I'm anemic and need iron twice a day. What do you take and does it mess with your stomach? Any tips?

YAY!!

I take Corvita 150 prescription. I'v been on it for years since I'm anemic. No issues. No constipation. I think there are OTC ones with stool softeners too. How much do you need twice a day?

I had to take Iron supps with DS#1 and had no issues

There are different forma of iron though. Someare harsher than others. Corvita is Ferronyl, Micronized. It never bothered me but some people say it has bothered them. Look for one that says gentle on the stomach. I've tried other irons and they burned my stomach so bad. (like slow fe which is ferrol sulfate, I think)

Corvita is a high dose script though. You might not need that much. My iron is still low on it. The dr asked me if I was taking it when my bloodwork came back and I was. He said the babies are just stealing it.

they said to get OTC. he's so lax, it makes my life so complicated lol

My dr prescribed me Irospan 24/6. I take it once a day, it did not upset my stomach at all. I really like it, you should ask your dr about it

I took Corvita for a while but I was so anemic I had to get venofer infusions. Definitely try the Corvita, it bothered by stomach a little but was by far the best out of anything else I ever tried.

I have to take iron twice a day too - I take Vitron-C it's OTC and has vitamin c in it to increase absorption. I have a sensitive stomach so I started with half a tab daily and gradually increased. I also take one to two docusate 100mg daily to help with constipation. Good luck!

Congrats on the one hr test - but the anemia sucks. I was told the same thing and I take the Walmart Iron Tablets twice a day it's the same as Feosol (which is pretty pricey)

I find that it give me more heartburn than normal but it doesn't effect me too much! HTH's Good Luck

I take ferrous sulfate 325mg once a day. I haven't had any bad side effects from taking it.

i take the otc and a stool softner with it
