Please Please Please check the gifts that are given to you.. especially if its an item you dont need to use right away!!.. I got a high chair and jumparoo and both didnt use until months after getting and they were either damaged or dirty (looked like it was used and returned).. the boxes were both in great conditions didnt even look like they had been opened. I brought back to BRU and they gave me a Super hard time.. wouldnt even do an even exchange, even with it being on my registry. They wanted me to pay the difference b/c when the item was purchased it was on sale.. yeah right dream on lady. I found other ways to get my way but it was a pain. So to save yourself the trouble.. check them before the expiration time is up!! BRU is just get worse every month!!

Heed my warning!! Enjoy your showers!!! Chat Icon

BRU is a NIGHTMARE now with their new return policy. I went the other day to return $175 worth of stuff from my registry and first they told me they weren't going to do it because I only had 90 days and it was the 91st day......no joke!! I raised hell and they did it BUT they tried to return everything at the sale price even though it was full price on the receipt AND they even told me at first they wouldn't accept the receipt because...get this one......it wasn't a gift receipt it was a the regular receipt. What the he**???? Are they for real??!! Then I had to return something I bought online but I had lost the packing slip so I brought in a print out of my order from their website and they were giving me a hard time about that!! They are out of control with this return policy, it really irks me!!! If you have the receipt, if it's on your registry especially, and if the item is unopened and they still stock it then what's with the 90 day time limit anyway???? Such idiots!! Chat Icon

I have always hated that store, they have the worst customer service ever. In peoples opinions, what are some better stores where we should register?

One high chair that I bought had clearly been used, broken, and then put back in the box. When I brought it back to BRU Commack they accused ME of doing it. Yeah, because that's what I spend my time doing.

I also had a problem with another item that was missing pieces in the box- again, problems trying to do an even exchange. I only go to the Bohemia store now.

BBB is so much better. I bought a diaper bag that was supposed to be on clearance and not returnable but I tried anyway and they accepted it w/o quesiton. It took 5 secionds and I didn't even need to show them my credit card.

Love the customer service at that store too, their sales people are so knowledgeable and helpful.

Another alternative is Amazon.com. I've heard some of the prices on goods they sell just can't be beat. Only problem is they are not brick and mortar...

There's also Target but they have a lousy return policy too from what I hear.... kinda like BRU.

This really worries me because my Mom bought our crib in early October and had it delivered to HER house thinking it should be a surprise.

I am afraid by the time we get it here, the return window might be over--what if it is defective??

I'm really disappointed in their new return policy. I worked at BRU for 4 years in college--I was the Customer Service manager. The return policy was FAIR--if we carried it and it was brand new, we'd take it back, receipt or not.

I did that for probably tens of thousands of pregnant women, and I'm a little bothered that now it's MY turn and they won't do it for me! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I can't even tell you--women would come in with 3 shopping carts full of stuff on a Sunday morning, and I'd return it ALL and they'd walk away with a merchandise credit for like, $1000. That's the way it SHOULD be!!

Can I just say that I am TERRIFIED about registering there? I have no choice because I live upstate and I don't have a BBB that is convenient.

ETA: Thank you so much for your warning though. I will be sure to open and inspect EVERYTHING ASAP!

I would have your mom check that crib over good. My dds crib had a recall (wendy bellismo) for parts.. BRU refused to help me, had to go through Bassett and then after everything was fixed the leg broke on crib.. That was it for me and I demanded BRU to take it back b/c of the original recall.. they gave me a super hard time but finally got at least store credit. It took me a months of heartache and worrying about my dd possible getting injured in that crib before everything finally was settled and got a new crib.
