I pulled a deer tick off of Emma this morning

It was under her chin. It was attached. It was not engorged. I pulled it out by the head with tweezers. I got it all. I cleaned it with alcohol. What are the chances if it was a lyme tick my daughter got it?? Sometimes I hate living on Long Island!

I'm not to sure about ticks, but I would bring her to the Doctor, maybe they can do a blood test.

Not sure of the chances but I would bring DD into the ped just in case. Chat Icon Chat Icon

I found a deer tick on my DS when he was smaller. It was on his arm. It wasn't engorged and we got the whole thing out. We saved the tick and brought it to our ped. He test DS for lyme as precaution. Thank GOD he was ok.

Check today's newsday. There is a whole section on deer ticks and what to do. Its a separate flyer with the paper.

Check with the doctor. After my son got bit he was put on antibiotics for 21 day. since we didn't have the tick my son had to be blood tested unfortunatly we had to wait 6 weeks before the test. You won't get an accurate result before then. Luckily he tested negative.

Totally true. I went through the same thing & my ped said the tick needs to be engorged.

emilain was right then too.Chat Icon

Cole had one that was engorged and had been there more than 48 hours. (I saw it, but I thought he'd scratched a mosquito bite and it was a scab. Chat Icon )

The ped. had us go for blood work and then follow up again in 8 weeks for more blood work. You'll be fine if you caught it right away.
