I ran my first race!
I can't believe I did it, but today I ran my first race. It was the Run as One 4 mile. It was amazing!!!
I ran with my sister, who has run a few races before. It was so emotional. I was excited to do it- and its a benefit for a lung cancer charity. It was HUGE. So many people wre there. People had signs on them "I'm running for my mom/dad/friend," etc... My sister and I started crying, and someone came up to ask to see if we were oK. It was so sad to see these young kids with signs they were running for lost parents. 
But then it began, and it was like the group carried me. I just started running again and hadn't run more than 3 miles- but that last mile was the easiest I ever ran. It was such a pleasure. My DH adn DD were there right before the finish line. When I crossed the finished line- I cried. It was such a sense of accomplishment.

Awww Shelly, I am so happy for you ... Congratulations!!! I remember that feeling of finishing my first race as if it was yesterday. Enjoiy the after glow...you deserve it..it will stay with you for years to come!

CONGRATULATIONS!
I was there too!!! It is a great course isn't it? once you get over that thrid mile hill - the finish is right there! Such great weather too!!
ITA with you about the emotion...I got choked up while running a few times reading the signs.

I still get alittle choked up at every race...or just a feeling of euphoria. Such a good feeling!
