I really don't know what to do.
I went for my annual exam at OB-GYN on May 25th. I talked to the doctor about TTC. He put me on Provera and then will put me on Clomid.
He hasn't done any bloodwork to find out reasons for irregular cycle/lack of cycle. When I ask questions, he cuts me off. He says things like "Do you want to get pregnant or not?"
When I mentioned PCOS to him and asked if that was a possible cause for my irregularities he said "Why would you bring that up? Who told you about that? A little knowledge brings trouble."
I want to go to a different OB-GYN for a second opinion. I called one who is not available until August. I also called Dr. Chu at NSUH and she's not available until July.
DH and I don't know when to try or if to try since my cycle is all wacky. What would you suggest? Continue with the OB-GYN I have now? See another?
HELP!!

his poor attitude and rudeness would be enough reason for me to find another gyno, JMO.
good luck!

I agree, unfortunately most of the gynos have a 6 - 8 week lead for a new patient appointment.
Good luck

I agree too. Sadly, you will have to wait to get into anyone new.

Re: I really don't know what to do.
I would get another opinion. Waiting a month or so is not gong to make a big difference. I wouldn't take medication especially with your concerns w/o a second opinion.
I had a breast cancer scare last year. The MD oncologist recommended I go on Tamoxifen..I did not have cancer, just an abnormality that could become cancer down the road.
I went to 3 other doctors..got my answer-the right answer..
Do your research and fire any doctor that tells you information is not good.

See another doctor. You need to feel 100% confident with this guy and he sounds like an insensitive schmuck

Re: I really don't know what to do.
Um I think this may be my old OB/GYN. He literally told me NOT to read ANYTHING. When I insisted on bloodwork, he lectured DH & me in his office on a Sunday morning like punished school children. Lo and behold, I have elevated FSH (diminished ovarian reserve) -- but of course if it were up to him I wouldn't have even found this out for another - oh I don't know, 3 years??
Please see a different GYN....one who is more sensitive to your situation. July is right around the corner - most REs, if they are good, have a waiting list, and it is normal for a GYN to have one too. I say find someone else (you may not need an RE quite yet) - and then keep calling to see if they have any cancellations. People cancel a lot in the summer. Good luck!

Re: I really don't know what to do.
He has bad bedside manner and I would start looking for another OB-GYN. Some have a longer wait then others check around and do some research you'll find a new GYN in no time.

It sounds like a change in OBGYN is worth the wait. No one deserves to be brushed off like that. Good luck to you.

Re: I really don't know what to do.
1. Yes, definitely change.
2. I got to see Dr, Rosenfeld at NSUH but now have been switched to Dr. Chu for my IVF (Dr. Rosenfeld no longer does IVF's). I saw her today. Summer time is their busiest time. Most of the teachers (me) time their IVF's over the summer and, unfortunately, it is a lot of us, never mind other women who are cycling. I'd take the July appt. most RE's have a wait. Dr. Chu also specializes in IVF.
Good luck

Re: I really don't know what to do.
WOW! I dont liek his answer AT ALL. He should be finding out WHAT the problem is before TREATING you with meds. What a jerk in my opinion.
I see Dr. Chu and July is only a few weeks away, if you decide to see her, shes great.
Good luck to you!

Re: I really don't know what to do.
I think you are on the right track looking into a new doctor. Have you tried any of the other doctors at NSUH? Dr. Chu is going to be on vacation in 2 weeks so maybe you could see someone else first?
Otherwise I can also recommend Andre Saad in Westbury and Queens who is my regular OBGYN and I love this man - very caring and helpful.
