I really need help with this sleep thing...

I love him to pieces, but my goodness he's driving me CRAZY! Not only isn't he sleeping at night - but now daytime (which used to be fine) is turning into a DISASTER. He fights it so bad and cries so hard. I try everything - leaving him alone, walking, rocking, swaying, pushing him in the stroller. Unless we're outside for a walk or in the car he will not sleep - this has been going on for the last 2 days. Is it teething? I don't want to leave him cry because what if something is hurting him? I gave him tylenol today and he's finally out - we'll see for how long. Is it a phase? I feel so completely out of it and so completely frustrated!Chat Icon

You are not alone. Hayley has been fighting her naps during the day too. I put her in the swing and put on Sesame Street. She will eventually fall asleep. If that doesn't work I will hold her and rock her til she almost asleep, I will then put her back in the swing and she will fall asleep.

Ohhh Danielle, I feel for you... we went through this about 2 weeks ago. It was getting INSANE. I would have to nurse her, rock her, nurse her, rock her, jiggle her, walk with her, nurse her... you get the idea. It would go on for HOURS until she would fall asleep! I kept telling DH I didn't want to let her cry, but it just got to be too much. We were both so exhausted and cranky and so was she. So, that's when we started the CIO... it worked miracles, it really did. I always make sure that she has a clean diaper, is fed and burped before putting her down. If you think it might be teething, have you felt his gums? Do you feel little bumps coming through? Are the gums swollen? If not, it might just be time to try the dreaded CIO Chat Icon

Re: I really need help with this sleep thing...

sometimes with naps after I have tried everything to get her to sleep I just leave her in her crib for a while. I let her cry for about 10 minutes...depending on how hard. Then I go to her and at that point I can usually get her to sleep. Sometimes I think she just needs to get it out of her system and it tires her out. I absolutely hate doing it but when all else fails.....Chat Icon

Oh and when I am at work my sister puts sidney in her car seat in front of the TV and just leaves her alone for a while. This works 70% of the time. BUT she puts her in this coat outfit that she can't move her arms in. Sort of like swaddling. Her arms are the killers of all naps!! Chat Icon
