I really need some positive vibes!!!

Please, keep your fingers crossed. I went on a second interview this past Wednesday for another job. I was told before going on this interview that I was one of the top candidates. Well, the first interview I met with the Director of the specific Program who I would be working with and then the 2nd interview was with the Director and Associate Director of the whole program. I felt like both interviews went really well. After the second interview the Associate Director showed me around, etc. The pay will be good and the benefits alone will save us a few hundred a month and parking is really cheap. Also, one of the first things they told me is that they have a reputation of being a VERY friendly family office. If one of my kids gets sick at daycare and I need to bring them to work with me I can, etc. It seems like such a wonderful place and such a different atmosphere than my first job at Duke.

Ladies, I really need this job sooooo bad you don't even know! It sounds like such a great opportunity for me. They told me they were interviewing 2 people and I don't know if I was included in that total or not? They are going to let me know on Monday. I got an email from the Director that they haven't made a decision yet and that the Associate Director was out of town yesterday and today. They'll be getting together on Monday to discuss it and hopefully make a decision.

I am soooo excited, anxious and nervous all at the same time. I wasn't nervous for the interviews, but I am now. Monday can't come soon enough. Well, only for good news of course!

I'm so worried because everytime I have great interviews, I never get the job. I'm trying not to get my hopes up but I already did.

After me losing out on the other great job and my DH not getting the promotion, we really need this. I don't think I can take any more rejection. I need something to go right for once!

Sorry this is so long, I'm just anxious I guess. Please keep your fingers crossed for us. I'd really LOVE to post on Monday that I got the job. I'd love to post some good news for once instead of all the bad things.

I just wanted to add that the Associate Director I interviewed with responded to my Thank you email. It's nothing fancy, just a few words, but I thought that was nice. I never get responses from Thank you notes.

She said,

"Thank you for your interest and your letter. Let's hope for the best."

The Director's response was...

"Hi Melissa --

Thank you for meeting with me and E'Vonne on Wednesday and for the thoughtful thank you note.

I wanted to let you know that we have still not made a decision about making a job offer to anyone for the staff specialist position with the Nonprofit Management Program. And E'Vonne has been out of town yesterday and today. Nancy, E'Vonne, and I hope to get together on Monday to talk about this matter and make some decisions about how we want to move forward.

I know this isn't much news, but I hope it is better than only silence from our end. I am sorry the process seems to be a bit slow.

Best wishes for the weekend. We'll be in touch again next week.

I haven't heard anything yet!!! All I've been doing all day is checking my answering machine and email. I check my email looking for a rejection letter and then I check my answering machine looking for a message. It's driving me crazy. I'm so stressed out about it. I mean it's not a top job, but for now it will help big time!

I'll keep you updated. I've pretty much given up hope on it. I just wish if they were rejecting me, to do it already.

I know, shouldn't they? I've never had anyone respond at all!

I STILL haven't heard anything!!! I would have thought I would of at least got a rejection email by now. They seem so on top of keeping my updated, but now, nothing. I know she said it's a long, slow process, but come on! I can't take the waiting anymore. It's all I think about all day long. I'm trying so hard to stay positive, but I think I would have heard a yes by now.

Do you think it would be ok if I emailed the Director again for a follow up? I don't want to sound desparate, and I want to be patient considering they said they would be in touch with me again next week, which would have been this week.

I just wish if they don't want to hire me that they wouldn't wait until today or next week to tell me. They could have told me that already, you know! They must know who they want so why haven't they said yes or no?

What should I do?

I just can't take anymore rejection. I emailed a follow up about the position and I was told that they were still interviewing and hope to get done by the end of next week. If they really wanted me they wouldn't still be interviewing. They haven't made a job offer to anyone yet, blah, blah, blah. I am beyond upset. I really thought I had this one. I am just sick of sending out resumes and going on interviews for absolutely nothing. I've been really getting depressed about this. We need the money soooo bad. Why doesn't anybody want to hire me?

Sounds you're doing everything...websites, headhunters, temp agencies. Keep the faith and don't quit trying, you'll find a job.
