We just received this...for going 58 in a 40 on a freeway in DC...they have a picture of our car and say that local radar picked up the speeding....
We can contest the ticket through mail, which I'll attempt to do, but not sure if anyone has won this way. I mean if they say we were going that speed I guess its accurate, but still annoyed..its a $100 ticket!!
I do know we always keep up w/traffic and never speed and its just baffling how they do this!

The thing with these tickets by mail is that they cannot prove it was YOU in the car. Yes, the car is registered to you, but how do they know you didn't lend your car to a friend that day. Without being able to face your accusor at the time of the incident, it's very hard for them to prove anything.
I say fight it. You have a good chance of winning.
I asked my DH once about these things- he's a cop- and he said that any ticket that comes in the mail- speeding, running a red light caught on camera, only goes down as a parker- not a mover- so there won't be points on your license (at least that is how it works in NY). The reason is what I mentioned before- they can't prove it was YOU driving....

My DH gets a lot of parking tickets- and he disputes all of them. Nearly half the time, they get dismissed. I say go for it!

It's funny b/c I said to DH "how do they even know it was you driving?" and then there is a thing on the ticket that says "If the driver of the vehicle was not you, you are to provide their name, license # etc...".
So if I were to say it was my brother or someone...would THEY then get a speeding ticket?? I am in VA and don't know how different the laws are.
