I received some great news last night!
Since my bday is around Thanksgiving, I always get my bday gifts at dinner - we do 2 nights of Thanksgiving - Thursday night with my cousin, and Friday night with my parents...
my stepmom gave me 3 boxes of mimi maternity - I got some cute blouses....
Later on that evening, I kissed my dad thankyou for the clothes as a joke, as I knew he had no part in picking them out or anything...
My grandma then asked me - did your dad tell you about the furniture?
I was like, huh?
She said - your dad was supposed to tell you that he and I are buying your baby furniture.
I was instantly like - NO! You don't have to do that!
but they insisted....
I cried... I was so happy and touched.... So, they are buying my baby furniture - however, one condition - since we are Jewish - the furniture cannot arrive until after the baby is born....
That being said - where should I look for furniture now that I don't have to go to IKEA? Someone suggested Behr's last night....

I loved BBB - they had a great selection and I had no problem with delivery or assembly.

I went to Behr's yesterday and didn't really like anything there. It was VERY expensive too. I actually liked a few sets in BRU.

BRU has nice sets. I was in the one in Union Square and they had nice set ups in there.
Also Sears is always an option.
Don't go to Ikea. My SIL bought the $84 crib for my neice and she is just 13 months old now and she keeps either climbing down or falling out of it.

Well - IKEA was on our budget - now I don't have to worry - we wont go nuts, but it wont be IKEA!

I found some nice cribs in the $150 range at Sears. I think people get too caught up in the toddler bed and those can be pricey.

JC Penney has a lot of nice stuff- DH's parents bought our nursery furniture so I didn't want to go nuts either. We got the crib and dresser for a little less than $600 (not getting a changing table- the dresser is long so the changing pad will be on the dresser). But if you do use JCP, it's worth it to spend the extra for home delivery- I thought I'd save the inlaws money, and have it delivered to the store, and the stuff was HUGE. DH had to rent a van.
