I seriously HATE temper tantrums, ESPECIALLY those in public
I had to take Ryan for a hearing test at Stony Brook today and I couldn't get out of there fast enough.
He was fine until he no longer wanted to sit in my lap while in the booth, and proceeded to arch his back and thrash around. THEN, when it was time to go after we spoke with the Dr, he wanted to stay and play with the toys. UGHHH.. I literally carrying him while he was kicking and screaming, swatting his hands around, pulling my hair . I had to walk through long hallways and past offices... people were watching, its so embarrassing. I have no tolerance for ANY type of hitting, swatting, etc. so you can imagine how mad I was, but I just HAD to get out of there and couldn't go quick enough. THEN, it was a battle to get him strapped in the carseat. Arching his back and sliding onto the floor of the car is like
He never behaves like that unless we are at a Dr. office. He is petrified of any Dr. and gets frustrated because he can't leave, which leads to the tantrum.
I was so exhausted I was literally sweating! I hate this part of the toddler years.

's - I can totally and completely relate. My DD1 is petrified of dr.'s. I take an arsenal of things for her to do and snacks to eat.
One things she loves and keeps her very busy - The playroom at Stony Brook - Not sure if you were on the 5th floor pediatric wing, but the helicopter now lands near the window in that room.... It kept her busy for the 4 hours while we waited for her nephrologist.

Ohhh, I can't imagine how that must feel...I'll know soon enough I'm sure.
It might make you feel better to know that most parents have probably been through that with THEIR children and especially at a medical facility most of the people there I'm sure have seen worse behavior than what your little one did today.
Try to be easier on yourself - I would consider that actions like that (at a dr.'s office where your little one didn't really like the dr) are better than a temper tantrum at the grocery store over a bag of candy, right?

We've all been there at one time or another. If it helps you, EVERY MOM has dealt with a temper tantrum at one point.
and anyone who is looking down their nose at you is in for the same experience down the line.

Oh yeah...story of my life with my almost 3 year old. I always appreciate the BTDT moms that give you that look of, "Yep...been there myself...I feel your pain". Makes me feel like I'm not alone.

Sorry you had to deal with that. DS is only 8.5 months so I can imagine what I am in for!
How did the hearing test go?

How did the hearing test go?
It went good. He passed so there is no hearing issue. They didn't get to finish the test, but said that everything looks ok.
Thanks everyone. It's just seriously, the hardest thing ever thus far for me with mommyhood. And I only have more to look forward to with Erin, who I KNOW will be a handfull!!
