I think I felt my first contraction but am not sure.

Last night I felt a new kind of pain - it felt like a tightening of my entire belly, almost like a cramp but more like a squeezing feeling. It lasted a minute or two and then stopped. A few minutes later, it happened again.

I was freaking out because I thought I may be going into early labor. DH had to remind me that I should expect these types of false alarm contractions.

Is what I experienced braxton hicks?

I'm 35 weeks pregnant.

sounds like braxton hicks- the tightening is braxton hicks.

when they turn to sharp cramps- like af cramps, that is a contraction!

ITA. It is your body getting ready for labor and is completely normal at this stage.

if it's braxton hicks - changing your position will STOP the pain/tightening.

that's a MAJOR thing i took away from the childbirth video....

contractions will not stop no matter what, but if you're sitting and a BH starts, by getting up, laying down, just overall changing your position, it should stop.

They were pretty uncomfortable. I can only imagine how it will feel when I'm actually in labor. Labor is going to be a lot of fun. Chat Icon

I watched the exact same video as you. It's funny how everything you JUST learned goes right out the window when it is actually happening.

If you are getting them pretty regularly and can get into a warm (not hot though) shower that can help.

Funny I actually did take a hot shower in the middle of the night and I felt a LOT better. I just did it because I couldn't fall back asleep. I decided to get ready for work a few hours early. haha

That sounds like BH-- I have been having that continuously since 22 weeks! I started getting actual contractions -- a combo of the tightening plus intense period/ lower back cramps periodically for about a week and a half now. You can definitely feel the difference! The BH is uncomfortable, but not painful. The contractions are painful!

I've felt the non-painful uncomfortable tightening before. Like my belly would get really hard.

Last night it was more cramplike and painful. Definitely a change in feeling.

The new symptoms just never end!!!!

My entire pelvic area (butt, thighs, hips) has been aching too. My doctor told me that my pelvis is shifting(?) in preparation for childbirth.

Sounds like BH. I have been getting them myself in the last week or so. Uncomfortable, but it stops when I change position or get up and walk around.

I'm due in 2 weeks, and I have had these really strongly for about a week...they sound like Braxton Hicks to me too...they don't actually hurt, but they are uncomfortable. My stomach gets really, really hard for a few minutes up top, and then it releases the tension.
