i think i have a jealousy problem- LOL
ok... LOL with all this SAHM talk, LOL i'm super jealous of my best friend. she got married last august and has never worked since. she has THREE degrees ( el. ed, deaf ed, early childhood ed.) and never used them after her parents paid for 4 years of out of state tuition. she basically graduated, met her DH and said " i'm not working". they live out in PA, having a brand new house built, have 2 brand new cars... shes living the life... LOL they are having their first baby in january, so i guess then she'll have a reason to be at home.. but on days like this when its rainy and i don't feel like being stuck at work, i REALLY envy her....

I wouldn't want to not work without a child. I'd feel like my life was kind of meaningless. So what if my house was spotless...It would certainly be easier, but I feel like the mark I make on the world will be through the work I am doing. So chin up!

I am not the stay at home type because I am easily bored. However, if your friend is happy and that kind of lifestyle suits then good for her. Some women are the stay at home type while some women are not. To each his own.

Re: i think i have a jealousy problem- LOL
I can totally relate!!! I feel like that alot when I talk to some of my parents(I'm a dance teacher.) They are able to be SAHM, they drive around in their ridiculously expensive SUVS, wear fabulous clothes and live in mini-mansions in one of the wealthiest areas of the country. I always catch myself wondering what the hecl their DH's do for a living.

I am with you!! I'd at least love the option of not having to work. For me, not working wouldn't mean sitting around or shopping all day. I can easily find constructive things to do with my time as well as be able to spend the time I want/need taking care of my home, my DH and myself.

Re: i think i have a jealousy problem- LOL
I am a SAHM to-be. When we moved out of state for DH's promotion we had just found out that I am PG. We decided that I would stay home as long as we could afford it. I thought I'd be bored, but I am not at all. I do feel guilty, but I know that will change when the baby's here. I have to say though that I do miss the interaction with people and I know it would have helped me to meet people in our new city. There are definitely pro's and con's and it also depends on your personality. I really thought it would drive me nuts and I would be bored, but I have been busy getting settled and getting ready for the baby. So far I love it (for the most part.)

I was going to say the same thing. I have learned that if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

Re: i think i have a jealousy problem- LOL
I could be wrong, but I think you posted about this on LIW a long time ago. Yes...there may be a bit of jealousy on your part. But remember that you don't know what she goes through in her daily life...
I don't envy my sister who stays home (she works from home) with my 2 yr. old nephew. She's never "not doing" and I would go crazy.
Staying at home isn't for everyone.

Someone's always richer, thinner, smarter! Try not to compare. I'm sure you have many things she would like to have.
