Re: I think I'm going to scratch my legs off!!!!!!

I got eczema during my 2nd pregnancy. I never had it before then and I was itchy everywhere : ( This pregnancy my boobs are the only thing that's itchy. I have been alternating cocoa butter and baby lotion .

The best thing that worked for me was to rub on some coconut oil near the end of my shower. When it was really bad i also put on Aquafor after my shower.

I was incredibly dry all pregnancy. My saviors-- long showers and then immediately place an oil and then cover with a base to hold in the moisture.
For oils, you can use coconut oils, lotions or vitamin E oil. I love the Palmers vitamin e oil- worked amazing. Then I would add Honest Co Organic belly balm over it and let it soak in. I had to stay away from certain fabrics that made me more itchy so be aware of that.

Where are you itchy?
Is it worse at night?
Do you have a rash?
How many weeks are you?

Yes, I'm 10 weeks and want to scratch my legs off! I started to use L'Occitane original shea butter that I got for Christmas and it seems to be helping. Try using a heavier lotion.

Look up cholestasis of pregnancy. Not saying you have this but it's important to make sure. Typically it causes extreme itchiness on palms and soles of feet but also all over but no rash. It gets worse at night. I had it both my pregnancies. Monitoring is necessary as is can cause still birth.
Fm me if you have questions

I have very itchy arms and shoulders. It definitely gets worse at night. I asked my dr and she said it's from dry skin. Now I am a little nervous about the condition the pp mentioned.

The itchiness is your hormones.
For the last 4 days I've been using Queen Helene Cocoa Butter and it's amazing!!! Soon as it gets cold out my skin dries out even Vaseline wasn't cutting it (before pregnancy). The Palmers doesn't work on my skin. Now that I'm pregnant it usually just get worst. I put it on after my showers.

Yes this whole pregnancy has been terrible. Keep hydrated. Sometimes swelling causes it too. Otherwise I've been using lotion and cocoa butter!

I have the same thing. After you shower, don't dry off too much and slather yourself with Aquaphor. It is greasy and thick but it totally works. Once you are fully slathered, cover whatever areas with clothes to keep it from rubbing off. After a couple days you should feel a big difference. Also sleep with a humidifier if you can. The dry air is the worst for itchiness. I have been doing it for a couple weeks and def feel a thousand times better but still have some itching at times. Keep some good lotion in the fridge to lotion whatever may itch in between showers/aquaphor.

Also, if you have a deep enough tub to soak yourself, try a tepid oatmeal bath. My tub isn't deep enough. I also heard you can use the oatmeal bath packet and make it into a paste with water and let it sit on the itchy areas and it helps. Rinse with water and then slather on the aquaphor.

Hope you feel better!

Ekk, I had that last year. It was so bad. I had to switch shaving creams and body washes. I also used coconut oil on my legs after the shower and then covered with Aveno for eczema lotion. Humidfier helped too. Cortizone was a big relief too, but it has to be the liquid roll on version not the cream (it's in a bottle kind of similiar to roll on deordorant).

Just a little update. I've been using the aquaphor. Not a thick layer. But enough. And I've noticed a HUGE difference. I have been applying it before getting dressed in the morning and after a shower at night. I still have itchy moments but not NEARLY as bad!

I was using one from Harmon. But even THAT wasn't working which surprised me. Try the aquaphor. Really has made a difference!
