I think my MIL wants my baby
Obviously my in-laws are thrilled to be having their first grandchild, but I honestly feel like my MIL kind of thinks this is her baby. First she saw the 3-D picture and has been telling the whole family that the baby looks like her. And the other day she says to DH and I "Luca is going to love being at my house so much he's never going to want to go home." 
I love my MIL dearly, but she's a bit of a looney. Not for nothing, but I'm adopted. So the idea of having someone else in this whole world who will look like me is really important to me. Why is she trying to take that away?! And as far as Luca never wanting to come home,  , I know he will love it at BOTH of his grandma's houses, but I have an odd feeling that he'll want to be with mommy and daddy the most. MILy needs to get over herself a little. This is my baby, not hers.

awww...yes, he will love being there, but NEVER more than being home with you!
Sometimes it's best to just and walk away, even though that is sooooo difficult to do.

That's annoying. I guess it's great that she's so excited though. Is this her first grandchild? I would be annoyed at the looking like her part too.

Yes this is their first grandchild. Like I said, I completely understand the excitement, but come on .

I would just drop little hints - like - I can't wait to have the baby - we can come visit you on the weekends! Then mention one day that you would love to come over....
also mention how you are looking forward to spending family time with the baby - you, DH, and baby, because it means so much to you, and you hope that she would like to jin you guys once in a while at YOUR house, and say - you hope to pop by every now and then with the baby ....
Etc
If you keep dropping hints about spending occasional time with her, she will get the hint that the baby will not be living at her house....

Im sorry Nicole... unfortunately it dosent get easier (at least it hasnt in y situation)
My MIL truely thinks DS i s her baby- I could tell you things that would make your jaw drop...
My MIL has always been like this- but its just gotten worse with a baby in the pictures...
Everyone told me- that when it came to your child- you hold your tongue- no more...
And its true.... I explode with every little thing that pizzes me off (well almost everything)- Its not even a thought of reaction... but when it comes to MY BABY- I MAKE THE RULES!!
Stay strong... it get so so so so so so so hard- but your mommy power will get you through...

I'm very fortunate that my MIL and my mom will each watch the baby 2 afternoons a week. It will really only be for 3 hours at a time, but I know that my MIL will tell it like she's "raising" my child.

OMG I can feel your pain, I'm still dealing with MIL doing the same things and DD is 4.5 mos old. Hang in there, take it in stride and ignore her and the comments. Your baby will look like you and DH and LOVE being with you and DH and being home way more than anywhere else in the world!!
