I think my washing machine broke
It will agitate to wash the clothes, but will not spin to drain. This happens on every cycle. My clothes are in the wash machine right now and it's filled with water. I really don't know what to do. How much does a repair man cost? The wash machine and dryer came w/ the house and must be between 3-4 yrs old. I am so frustrated right now!

Re: I think my washing machine broke
If there is no service contract it's going to cost about $100 for them to just look at it...It's not worth it, you are usually better off just getting a new one and keeping a service contract on it.
Don't feel bad - our washer and dishwasher both broke within the first year in the house.

Re: I think my washing machine broke
Call Sears.....I "think" the service call is only $65 and they apply that to your balance if they fix the machine.

Re: I think my washing machine broke
Someone is coming to look at it on Tuesday. It is $100.00. We are going to spend the money to see what's wrong w/ it. If it costs alot to fix, then we will buy a new one. If it does not cost alot to fix and we use that company that is coming to look at it, they will refund the $100.00.
DH spilled paint on paver brick work today. Never ends...

Sears has a sale on right now with free delivery on new units and guaranteed pricing. More often than not it's the timer assembly (parts behind the dial selector) thats bad. I would get a new E-Star rated machine just for energy savings alone...

Re: I think my washing machine broke
That happened to us maybe a month ago. It was such a pain! Maytag referred us to a repair place in Mt. Sinai. They charged us $60 service call, but took that off the price of repairs. The guy fixed it on the spot, which was nice. It wound up costing us $250 I think? It was the motor and something else. Geez, I'm a big help, huh? DH stayed home and took care of it, so I'd have to look back at the receipt for the particulars.
