I Think Rob Might Be A Better 'Mom' Than I Am..

I vented about the whole making lunches/snacks/checking homework thing a few weeks ago.

Since that time.. Rob has been doing all these things pretty religiously. I still come home and ask questions and look at their work, etc.. but he is in charge.

So yesterday I came home early from work - I was sick. The boys got home about a half hour after me and I was laying on the sofa. They were surprised and gave me a hug and a kiss - and then Noah turned around and said. "I'll come cuddle more soon - Dad and I have to get homework done."

They both went and hung up their bags, took out their work and started to work with Rob at the table. They were done in a half hour and they immediately put away their stuff and Rob gave them their snack. Then they ASKED if they could go outside and play. Rob told them a half hour, set their watches and sent them off. I was AMAZED. With me they would get home, BEG to go outside, complain when I told them homework first, argue about whatever snack I tried to give them and generally make what took them 45 minutes at most into an hour and a half power struggle.

This morning Robbie is up early. He is fully dressed - including socks, shoes and belt. He MADE HIS OWN LUNCH - asked me to get him his chosen snack and didn't argue that he 'needed' cookies instead of crackers, trail mix, etc... His jacket and backpack are by the door and he is eating his cereal now. Evidently - Noah does the same every morning but with a little extra supervision.

I am really proud and amazed. But I am also a little sad and emotional.. my husband is really becoming a stellar stay at home dad. And my babies are becoming men.Chat Icon

Rob isn't a better mom than you are. He's surpassed your expectations as a dad.Chat Icon Also in fairness to your mom skills, the kids are older & much easier to manage once the rules are set.

My DH was always better at putting his foot down about things than I was.

WOW!! Good for you!!! And when your DH goes back to work and they try to slip back into their routine with you, you can now insist that they stay on track because you know they can do it!

you are so lucky to have such an amazing husband and father. it's not that he is a better mom - it's that he has learned so well from you!!! you are BOTH doing a fantastic job with those boys of yours. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

No one could be a better mom to those little boys than you! Rob really rose to the occassion and stepped up...he's a great dad. But I'd expect no less from the both of you...you're wonderful!

You know that no one can replace you! I think it's great that your boys have such a good example from your husband...they will be the fine gentlemen your husband is!

I know it's bitter sweet, but at the end of the day, your little boys are maturing and your DH is largely responsible for that. You should be very rpoud of all of them! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
