i think someone is taking packages from my front stoop
Has anyone had this problem??? Two UPS packages have been marked as "delivered" to us in the past month, and they were not here. However, I order online all the time, and most of the time, I receive the packages. UPS is "looking into it", but this makes me very upset. I would hope my neighbors wouldnt take my packages??? anyone have this experience?

if the packages are marked as delivered online, they were definitely taken I can't believe people would do that, although I don't know why I am surprised.
I hope you get them back!

Re: i think someone is taking packages from my front stoop
My mother has had packages stolen from her doorsteps many times and she was told "we delivered it"..Also I had something delivered to someone's house by Fed Ex that was left in the middle of her driveway for ALL to see...It wasn't taken but I did call FedEx to complain

Re: i think someone is taking packages from my front stoop
Knock on a couple of neighbor's doors to ask, "By chance did you see packages outside my door? They were delivered according to UPS, but they were never here when I got home. I was just curious if maybe someone took them in due to bad weather or something." When they say no, ask if they've seen anyone going to your door or anything and end with "I really hope I don't have to call the police. I'd hate to think someone is stealing packages in the neighborhood."
It's probably NOT neighbors, but if it is, your packages might just reappear soon. At least you'll have your neighbors looking out for you and aware of what's going on.

good idea
the packages might reappear or someone will get scared and it most likely won't happen again
a few years ago - our house was getting vandalized - god knows who it was but we had a few ideas of kids in the neighborhood - so, i went to a few neighborhood loud mouths and told them what had been happening - and that we set up new hidden surveillance cameras outside the house! that we were going to tape whoever did it the next time and send it to the cops - lol, word got around even though there were no real cameras lol and nothing EVER happened again!

Re: i think someone is taking packages from my front stoop
Our post office stopped leaving packages at our house because too many people were saying that the packages were being taken.
Its a pain in the azz to go to the post office and pick up the packages but more of a pain to have to report them stolen.
im sorry this happened. Maybe your neighbors picked up the package and is holding it for you

Hopefully a neighbor has them waiting for you. Unfortunately though, Tis the season for it. And yes, there are low-lives who will steal packages left on door steps, it happened to a friend of mine. If you suspect theft, definitely report it to your local police precinct.

think I read about this last year in the paper...kids actually go around neighborhoods during the day when people are at work. They called it doing their "christmas shopping"

Re: i think someone is taking packages from my front stoop
that stinks....UPS has always left me a note to tell me they tried to deliver and when they will be back.
I'd be pizzed if they left it out in public for anyone to come and take

Re: i think someone is taking packages from my front stoop
that stinks!!! i was gonna say... we've had stuff to be delivered and if nobody was home, UPS would leave us a note saying when they would be back or that we could pick it up at the UPS store at a certain tme.... i think there is a way to have your packages marked "signature required for delivery", so that they won't leave it at your house if no one is home to sign for it. maybe look into doing that for the future?? good luck!!

i ship things with ups all the time, and there IS an option for the shipper to do this. if i were you i would request this on any future orders.
the driver is supposed to leave a note when they try to deliver, and make 3 attempts. but after the 1st attempt, you can call the ups center and pick it up there if you won't be home.
it does cost an extra couple of dollars to do, but imho it is totally worth the added expense!
another option would be to have the packages sent to your work address if you can receive packages there.

that stinks if ppl are taking your packages!!
honestly--since i'm not home in the daytime--i have all packages shipped to my office so that i KNOW someone is around to sign for it.
i hope UPS can figure out what happened or that you can get the items reimbursed!

Re: i think someone is taking packages from my front stoop
I've never had any taken from my house but, when I lived in an apartment, things that were being marked as "delivered" were never received. If we weren't home, the packages were usually left at the management office so they either weren't delivered or just dumped in our apartment lobby.
The sender usually sent a replacement item/
I send most of my packages to my office (unless they are huge) because of that (I only lost one package but, my old roommate had a bunch that were lost).

Re: i think someone is taking packages from my front stoop
We actually had the opposite with FedEX last year or the year before. They said they delivered theater tickets to my home. They claimed they left it next to my mail box which is curbside and they never did. The tickets were for the secretary at school. I was dying. They even made the FedEx drive come back here and he told me I swear I left them at the mailbox. I screamed at him why would you leave it along the street. Anyways the tickets turned up a week later back at stubhub in LA. Go figure. So he obviously had so many deliveries going that he had NO IDEA W T F he was doing!
Keep calling but I learn from Fedex that have things sent to a place of business. They require signatures at a place of business but not residential.

this happened to me recently.
call the company where you ordered from and UPS. UPS will place a track on it and call you. if they item cannot be located, UPS will reimburse the company and the company will credit you.

Re: i think someone is taking packages from my front stoop
I'm sorry this happened. My husband won an (expensive) HD DVD player. When I came home, it was on my porch in its original box with huge block letters, "HD DVD" all over the box! Anyone could have taken it!
