I try to do the right thing and it bites me in the butt (mini vent)
I just gave my job two weeks' notice. Granted, I've only been here 2 months but I believe in doing the right thing, despite the fact that this place will never go on my resume, I'll never use them for a reference, etc. so I could've just left without notice and never look back. But that's not me, so here I am, trying to be a nice girl and guess what? The owner of my very small, 10 person company ignores me. I try to be nice and say good morning, she shoots me a dirty look. How hard is it to say hello back??? I try to resolve a client dilema yesterday, she comes in and asks my boss (I share an office with my boss) what's going on. My boss says "ask Robyn, she's taking care of it." The owner glances at me and then looks back at my boss and says "M., what is happening?" Her behavior makes me not want to help her out by giving her time to find a replacement. Vent over.

I am a big believer in always doing the right thing, so I think you should just ignore the obviously immature owner and remain with your head high.
Oh, and I would NOT help them in anyway to find a replacement.
You did the right thing, try not to let it get to you

I was put in the same situation after I gave notice at my old company. Only difference was, I was the 3rd employee at the company, and there for 10 years. I can't tell you how much it hurt to be ignored and to not even hear a thank you for staying around for 10 years and building the place from the ground up.
I just adoped the f them mentality. I see the CEO everyonce in a while, if he say something to me, I WILL let him have it!

They are probably just annoyed you are leaving, which is NOT your problem. If the 'tude keeps up, I'd say, "Would you rather I just leave and make today my last day?"

I've been there too. Just know you did the right thing and you are the more professional and mature one. Its a shame that they don't want to use you while you're still there. I'd just spend the time surfing the web, etc.

maybe she's being immature, but I think I'd be ****** too.
I've worked in HR and I know how hard it is to go through the hiring process...and expensive. It's frustrating and exasperating for someone to take a job and then leave 2 months later, most especially for a small company, when tasks cannot be so easily redistributed.
just thought I'd give you a different perspective.
from your posts, it seems like this has been a tough process for you all around.

That's the work world for you. Don't worry, if you did something wrong they would instantly fire you and make you pack your bags. Employers never give employees a two week courtesy. Screw them.

I was the 4th employee at my first company, and was there for four years. I never got a thank you from that company either.

It's amazing how some people take these things so personal.
When I gave notice at one job (I hated it there and only gave a week's notice since they made me start with them right away) my boss refused to talk to me for most of the time. The day I gave notice she took me to lunch and berated my decision the entire time - then ignored me - then cried when I said bye.

I probably would have said "I think today is my last day" and just left at the end of the day. Im sorry you are going through this.
