I used to have a betta fish at my desk
but he passed away a few weeks ago. RIP Ruby  
What other pets can i have at my desk?
I was thinking maybe a goldfish? maybe hermit crabs? what do hermit crabs eat?

I have two hermit crabs and they literally eat just about anything. They have a special food that you have have to give them every day, but whatever else is up to you. I usually mix it up and give them healthy food one day (different fruits, veggies, etc) then snacks the next (popcorn, pretzels, etc). They love salty things and chocolate, but you have to give it to them in moderation. Oh, and they always need to have water. I have a little dish filled with water and a sea sponge in it. They usually climb on the sea sponge and drink the water off of it.

No, they don't. Just give them extra food on Friday and they'll be perfectly fine. I know I've definitely left food in their cage for a few days at a time, especially when they don't touch it at all. When they do eat, they don't really eat that much. My hermit crabs happen to be very lazy and there are some days when they don't even get up at all.

But they have to have water and if you leave them over the weekend, the sea sponge might dry up. Not sure if that's a good idea.
Also, they are very active at night so chances are you might not see them during the day when you are at the office.

This isn't really a pet, but for Vday I got FH a bonsai to keep on his desk, It's cute and he gets ot water and prune it.

I used to have a betta fish at my desk too. It was so sad when he died! The whole office really didn't care but I was crushed. I was thinking of getting another one but it was so hard to bring it home to clean.

I had 3 betas..I finally gave the one who lived( which seemed like FOREVER) away because I was getting too lazy to clean his tank...LOL
I also had Hermit crabs...3 of them...No...4 of them, one died and then all 3 died after like 6 months when I was out sick for 4 days and no one gave them water!
They were FUN...I would get more...very low Matiienence...
If you get them and hold them, make sure you hold your hand FLAT out and they wont pinch you , if not be careful..

we have 2 goldfish in little fishbowls at work.
They were sucker gifts from a co-worker to the boss when the Yankees blew the World Series to the Marlins (2003, i guess).
Their names are Beckett (great Marlins pitcher at the time) and Marlin - and they're STILL ALIVE!!! After over 1.5 years.
It KILLS the boss to look at 'em everyday.
