I want to do the Avon Cancer walk in Oct...

with my mom. She is a survivor (4 1/2 years now, 5 years right before the walk), and we have been planning to do the Avon walk in NYC. DS will be 5 months...is that too much of a day for him? It is not the kind of thing where I can just leave & go home if he gets tired, fussy, etc.

Any opinions appreciated. Thanks!Chat Icon

It sounds like a big day for a 5 month old. How long do you think you'd be out? Maybe try having him out for that period of time before the actual walk and see how it goes.

I think it might be a bit much for a baby to be at. My aunt does these walks in FL with my cousin (who is 5 NOW). She's been attending them since she was 2 or 3...but she didn't bother before then. Also, with it being October, you never know if the day will be cold or hot, rainy or windy...I say do the walk with your mom and use it as a bonding day for the 2 of you and leave the boy with daddy!

Its a 2-day. I personally think it might be too much for me...never mind for my son. I just don't have anyone that can watch DS for the whole weekend (DH works weekends so he cannot even do...)

I think Mom may have to go without me this yearChat Icon

Do you have someone who could split the weekend? One person take him on Saturday, another on Sunday?

If it was just a walk, I would say you're fine. However with it being a 2 day event, I would opt out. My friends have done it & it wasn't conditions that they would have their children in. Cold, rainy (one year). Not a lot of places to run to for formula/diapers.
