She's going to be 6 months around Christmas time. I want to put her in swimming lessons, but I don't want to go in the pool (for several reasons). Is there a place that I can just sit and watch while someone else teaches her how to swim?

My sis did it here in LI at Eisenhower park and they made her go in with baby.

Have you tried calling around your area to see if they offer something like that??

You'd have to hire someone for private lessons, which would be expensive.

That is why I send my husband for the swimming lessons!

My sister says that both types of classes (moms in the pool and moms not in the pool) were offered where she took her kids. Her kids took all types of swim classes form a very young age and they are now 11 and 7 and they are competitive swimmers. I can ask her if anyone has more swim questions.

Alicia - where are you looking at? Someone I know took their baby for lessons at the YMCA in Summit - but i think she might have had to get into the pool. My niece takes lessons at the JCC in Scotch Plains - my SIL doesn't get into the pool with her but she's also 5, but maybe they have private lessons.
