I was child-free this weekend!
My parents took James on Friday afternoon and I just picked him up a little while ago.
I must say..... it was realllllllllllllly nice to have a weekend with just DH and I. Friday night we ordered dinner in, cracked open a nice bottle of wine and just relaxed. Saturday, we each went our separate ways in the morning (me - mani/pedi and shopping for ME, didn't buy one thing for James! - him - looking at cars, etc) and then we went out with some friends in Forest Hills Saturday night.
Although we had a great weekend, it was so weird to be without our son for that amount of time. My parents had him over the summer for a few days, but I went out and hung with them during the day and he just stayed over at night. At one point Friday night, I freaked out in the middle of the night frantically searching for and turning on the monitor and then looking for he baby in the crib on the screen. DH woke up to me panicking that James was missing. This might have been a wine-induced panic, just saying...... Oh, and we also had the pleasure of sleeping past 4am - we were wild and crazy and slept until 7:30!!!!!!!
The BEST part of the whole weekend, though, was when I walked into my parents kitchen - there he was sitting in his high chair and he shouted out "MOMMY!!!!" with his hands raised up. I went over to him (still strapped in ) and hugged him - he squeezed his arms around my neck and whispered "mommy" into my ear. OMG - I started crying.
If you have the opportunity to leave your DC for a day or two, DO IT! DH and I totally reconnected and it gave us a much-needed break!

Awww V! Sounds like an amazing weekend.
DH and I are going to Ft. Lauderdale for two nights in a few weeks. I am freaking out. The boys have never been without one of us at home (we have both gone on one night trips with our friends) so I am sooooo nervous, but at the same time I am burnt and really really need to get recharged.
So glad you had a nice weekend!

You are going to love it! The first night may be rough, but the feeling of being CF somehow overrides that.
We also have a "don't talk about the baby" rule when he's sleeping out.
