I was in a car accident earlier today - pic added
So this morning I made a post on the health board about a silly splinter that I got yesterday. I was on my way to the doctor to have said splinter checked out and I was rear ended pretty badly. I was making a right onto Sunrise from Peninsula Blvd in Lynbrook and some dude PLOWED into the back of my car. I was pushed into the right hand lane of the highway. I think I might have blacked out for a sec - not sure - but my forehead has a huge bruise and bump on it. Cops were called - my car had to be towed away. It wasn't driveable.  Thank God DH was off today - he came flying up to where I was and we went right to the doctor's office (where I was headed in the first place). He sent me for X-rays - I just have a sprained neck and left shoulder. Nothing too bad, but it still hurts. 
Now we have to go through the process of getting my car fixed and getting me a loaner car and dealing with the insurance b.s.
eta - the guy claimed that he was inching up because he saw me inching and then his "brakes failed" and that's how he ended up hitting me. Trust me - he was not "inching up" as he claimed - there is FAR too much damage for what he claimed he was doing. idiot. 
edited again - the auto body place just called - just by eyeballing it they're saying $5,000 in damages. Haven't even looked at the underside yet. My exhaust was pushed up into the rear axle.
Here's a pic of the car - it doesn't look that bad, but remember - I was at almost a dead stop

OMG V I'm glad you're OK, how scary!! Thank GOD he didn't push you into another car - certainly that's NOT a stretch at that intersection.

holy crap!
Monsters, splinters and rear ended..
so sorry.
I hate to say this, but you really should get some pain pills. tomorrow you are gonna hurt big time.

You poor thing! That is just awful! I hope your neck is feeling better soon.
Hopefully, your car is totalled and this moron will be found at fault- opps- forgot you guys in NY are no-fault but still he hit you, so you should be fine!

Thanks everyone - my doc did give me scripts for muscle relaxers and anti-inflammatories - DH has to go pick them up in a little while.

 it actually still REALLY hurts!
The kicker is that the doctor said that there's nothing he could do - short of sending me to a surgeon - to remove it. It's like the size of a pin-head and embedded in my knuckle fold. He gave me 2 sterile syringes and told me to try to work it out with them.

Ouch in the knuckle! ! ! Soak your finger in warm water it might help soften the skin HTH Feel better ! !
