I Was So Suprised That Bellini Wasn't Much Different In Price Then Behrs
I am only 3 months along but DH and I started looking yesterday for baby furniture. First we went to Behrs. Yes, they have a lot of variety but it reminded me of a factory. So overwhelming. Then, we went to Bellini and I was in love with the store and service. I was so suprised that their highest crib priced at $1050, I was expecting a lot more. I love the changing table there in which you change the baby vertically, not horizontially.
I think for the LITTLE extra it may cost us, Bellini is our choice.

I got my furniture and bedding there! I should have shopped around a little more for the bedding .....BIGGEST RIPOFF!!! nice but a RIPOFF! also yes the furniture is beautiful, but I'm sure I could have something similar for less$$. Maybe I just thought the ladies were a little snotty in the Melville store!

DH and I started to look a few weeks ago but do not plan on ordering until May.
I also felt that Behr's was more about the hard sell. I heard one salesman give the exact same sales pitch to 4 different couples like a machine.
At BBB and BRU, we were kind of on our own and nothing did it for us in either place.
My best experience, BY FAR was at Sukons on Cross Bay Blvd in Ozone Park - I went upon suggestion from an LIFer and was VERY pleased. The store is layed out very nicely-not overcrowded, the staff is knowledgeable about their stock and safety standards and they weren't on my back annoying the crap out of me. I fell in love with a particular set, but I have to bring DH back to see it before we order it. I would recommend giving Sukons a shot.
Good luck.

behrs and bellini are much different in price if you really look at the different pieces. although--there are no prices ever listed on the actual furniture in bellini.
we were treated so rudely in bellini that we walked out. my mother went in about 2 weeks later not knowing that we had gone there and they laughed at her!!! right to her face!!! made fun of her for what she asked to be shown. i spewed off an email immediately to their headquarters and will NEVER go back there.

I wouldn't have tolerated that either.
Nobody knows what you have in your pocket. Its funny because I NEVER dress up when I go shopping because I am never comfortable. So when am planning to spend a lot of money on something I look like a slob. If a sales person looks past that and treats me respectfully, they will more than likely get my business. As the daughter of a retailer, I have learned MANY things. Good customer service is what kept my family in business for a very long time. Dad had more repeat customers than new ones because of his reputation of how he treated people.

exactly! little did they know that she is about to become a first time grandmother where the sky is the limit for her grandson. and yes, we were dressed in jeans because it was the weekend, and they IGNORED us and helped a much better dressed family that came in after us. they didn't even acknowledge us when we came in even though they saw us---but when $$$$ (or so they thought) walked in THREE salespeople went right to them. i took my $$$ elsewhere!

this shows how little the sales people actually know about human nature.... the biggest slobs in the hamptons are the ones that live in the giant mansions. the other people are trying to look like they have money.
usually it's the people in jeans and old sneakers who will buy the overpriced crib.
that being said, our crib will come from Walmart heheheheheh. our big purchases are restricted to things that will last 40 years, like our dining set
oh, I should add that we were scruffy when we bought our overpriced dining chairs, and the pooty salesman ignored us for a while while he catered to a better dressed woman who wanted to only buy a house # that was 50% off (about a $40 purchase). after her, we plunked down a couple grand, and was still treated like dirt Alas, there was no other place to get those chairs.... otherwise, I wouldn't put up with it.... and if they ever disrespected my mother, I'd give them a piece of my mind.
