at first I was like - whatever

but the coverage lasted about 20-30 minutes and the longer I watched, the more special it became to me. It was pretty amazing to see people's reactions to him. And when they showed him visiting a NYC Synagogue (first time a Pope ever visited one in the US), and he even spoke a little Hebrew, it warmed my heart Chat Icon

it is wonderful to see someone who unites so many!

The synagogue he went to is where my friend works. We were just there on Purim. The rabbi there is so nice, and its a lovely congregation.

I agree with you....I'm lutheran, so the pope doesn't necessarily have a special significance to me.....but I have to say, in times like these, to see such a unifying figure is definitely heartwarming.

I was at the doctors office yesterday and this older woman was sitting there w/ her daughter, they were speaking italian and clapping watching the news coverage of the pope as he landed at JFK. it is pretty exciting to think this only happens every 10 years or so.

they interviewed 2 boys from the congregation who sang to him in Hebrew. they were so excited and 1 of them said he will tell his grandkids about it. he was probably about 10 yrs old. so nice!

i saw him today (i was at the event in Yonkers).... and let me tell you, it might sound corny, but there were tears in my eyes.

this man, the leader of the Church so dear to me and so many, is full of such peace and love. He, in such a humble way, unites the over 1 BILLION catholics in this world. there is no one else on this planet that unites that many people.

his ecumneical efforts, IMO, are to be applauded, particularly his outreach to our Jewish brothers and sisters.
