I went for an interview yesterday
...I got a call today and they wanted to offer me the job. I was so excited...and now I am really bummed.
...He said for the salary that I wanted I would have to work 54 hours a week and time and a half after that. Yesterday he told me it would of been 40 hours and time and a half after....but he said he figured out the numbers over night....and that he wouldnt be able to give me the salary I wanted unless I worked 54 hours.......
If I worked 54 hours - that is 6 days a week 9 hours a day - there wouldnt be any time for over time
Oh well

I think that if you are and hourly employee overtime pay kicks in after hour 40. Don't let this guy take advantage of you.
Can someone who works in HR chime in on this?

Yes that is correct, over 40 hrs - for a NON-EXEMPT employee is overtime.

Yes that is correct, over 40 hrs - for a NON-EXEMPT employee is overtime.
yep- i am salaried and i dont get any overtime. I usually work 45-55 hours a week.

Yeah I know over 40 is overtime - but he said it wouldnt be considered overtime if I wanted a certain amount of money - There are no HR reps - The job was at a car dealership

The market is really bad right now - I put it on hold. The real estate was going to be a part time job - I really need a full time job to replace the one I Have now
