I went to donate my hair to Locks of Love...
and they wouldnt take it because its Japanese straightened. I was devastated. Ive been growing out my hair for months, and have looked like a complete freak!! So 10 inches got swept into the garbage. So sad

The salon was told LOL doesnt accept chemicaly relaxed hair, yet I called the hotline, and they said they would have taken it.
I called the salon and told them they should straighten this out with Locks of Love. Totally different information.

I donated to Locks of Love and my hair was had been japanese straightened.
I went to my hair dresser and asked if my hair was in good enough condition. He said it was in great condition. They cut it and I mailed it off to Locks of Love myself and got a card in the mail thanking me for the donation. Maybe they didn't know?
I didn't remember seeing anything about it not being acceptable on their website.

That is strange...the website says they accept permed hair, which is kinda similar.

I've never heard of locks of love refusing hair, but I do know they don't use all of the hair they receive. - They check the conditionof it first ..........

That is absurb! If the hair isn't in good condition LOL will sell it for the proceeds. Shame on that salon for doing that!

That stinks that they threw it out.
My hair was highlighted when i donated it, and they say that if the hair is treated/damaged they can't take it b/c it wont hold up to their process, but they say its still worth it to send it to them b/c they can test it and might still be able to use it (worth it to at least try it out before throwing it out).
you tried though.

They would have taken it. When I did St. Baldricks the first year my hair was japanese straightened.
That sucks.
