I went to the RE on Tuesday... (LONG)

This was my first meeting with them. If some of you remember me posting about me finding out about having Endometriosis about 1.5 months ago? Well, the RE did an ultrasound and the cysts have gotten even bigger. There are 4 of them coming off of my right ovary. The largest one is measuring at 7.2 cm. So all together they're at least 15 cm! I'm scheduled for surgery for Dec. 2. I would of had the surgery done the week before, but since it's Thanksgiving they're closed. They only do surgeries on Friday's. So I'll be having it done right around the time I ovulate. I'm scheduled for a Laparoscopy, but there is a chance I might need a Laparotomy instead which would mean major surgery. My RE is amazed at my "case". She said she's been dealing with Endo for years and has never seen it only on my right ovary and nothing on the left one and how they're growing around and underneath everything. She is also amazed that we got PG the first time with my son because apparantly I had the Endo then. So I guess you can call my son a miracle baby! She also doesn't believe that the cysts have grown soooo big in such a small period of time considering it's only been 21 months since my son was born and there was nothing there then and 1 year of that time I was BF'ing exclusively. She also found it strange that I got my period a week after I stopped PP bleeding. She's very interested in what's going on to say the least. She's going to need to talk to another Oncologist about my "case" to see what they think. I told her that my DH and I like to stump doctors all the time. They never know why!!! I told her that my whole pregnancy was out of the norm.

Anyway, she said I will have to do something to suppress the Endo immediately after surgery or it's just going to keep growing back right away. She suggested pills or to try to get PG right away. I of course want to get PG, but my DH still thinks differently. Men... they will never understand.

So this is my update... oh... she also can't believe that the cysts haven't ruptured yet during sex. We said of course that there isn't much going on in that department. (Too painful and I've been upset with my DH) She said it's best that we don't anyway!

So now, I just have to convince my DH to start TTC after the surgery. If I have a laparoscopy I wouldn't be able to try until Xmas! Wouldn't that be a nice gift? Literally.... A Christmas miracle!

I am so sorry to hear about the cysts .

Sounds like you found a doctor who cares, and I am sure, Xmas is going to be a special time for you this year.

I'm sure hubby will come around soon, it just takes men longer to get it sometimes!

Im so sorry for what your going through. I cant imagine how awful and scary it must be. Trust the Dr's and try talking to DH again and explaining it in "man " terms, I hope he can see your best chance at having more children will be RIGHT away , and I will pray your surgery is easy and successful!

Thanks everyone I really appreciate it!

I really hope my DH comes around. I know he's worried about money, but it could be now or never... and that's how I look at it, not him. My RE was REALLY surprised at how quickly I got PG the first time. If we started and it happened right away, it definitely was meant to be! It really amazes me how a man's perspective is usually completely opposite of their spouses! Well, at least in my case. Let's just hope my DH comes around, and I won't have a hard time getting PG because I don't have Infertility insurance. At least not until Nov. 2006.
