I would never buy a compaq laptop again
so after 18 months of owning it
I have to pay $49 to speak to someone to see if they can help me??????

I am so mad right now....I am ready to just go buy another laptop
but I spent $350 fixing it
another $50 on this call
and who knows what else this is going to cost me b/c I don't have the product key for office anymore (made that clear to the guy at best buy who fixed it - but he said it wasn't a big deal)
and now this jerk tells me the computer has to be hooked up to the internet- which isn't working on it for some reason

ooh make sure that they are not going to tell you to call MicroSoft directly.... same thing happened to MIL. After fighting with Compac she ended up getting referred to MS

i don't understand your post
your office key and windows are different...
which are you looking to replace?
you can get a replacement disk easy, its just a matter of having a valid key...
which key are you having a problem with? when you brought your computer on day 1, if you purchased office with it, you should have a sleeve with the key. your windows key is on the bottom of your laptop.
also, if your out of warranty, you are at of warranty...this has nothing to do with compaq

I lost the disks - so no product key
I just wanted to buy replacement ones
which I just did - from them for $149
but when I called the first time- instead of offering to sell me what I asked for they transfered me to tech support- and charged $49 for nothing

you should of just brought a new copy of office for under 100 bucks if that was the case...
