Ideas for framing your own pics?
Framing is so expensive, I have bought 5 pcs of art for DS room and cant find frames bc they are odd sizes. Any recs for framing and matting your own art or any crafty ideas to do in lieu of matting and framing?
FYI - one is a vertical poster about 22x26 and the other 4 are tin signs about 16x12.

I found great frames at Ikea and at the Christmas Tree Shop.
Sometimes, even if they are odd sizes, you can chop a small part of the photo and it will still look nice in the frames. Or you could by an inexpensive mat from AC Moore/Michaels and cut it.
I have almost all my own photos/artwork framed and nothing was done so professionally.

try kohls for frames.. they are always having that 50% off sale. another idea is get canvas backing and take the posters and spray adhesive them to the canvas. but get a little fun turn the pics to a 45% angle or tilt them a bit or just put the center of the pic in the middle of the canvas. and then cut off the excess around it.

How crafty can you/do you want to get. Off the top of my head, not seeing exactly what you have.... for the tin signs, I'd maybe cut some wood a little bigger than each sign, add a nice edge with a router, paint it to accent and mount the tin sign on with tacks or a good apoxy glue. Add saw teeth to the back of the wood to hang. You may even be able to find ready for paint wood plaques in craft stores.
As for the poster, I'd do one of two things... buy a cheap poster frame for the plexi glass and build my own frame out of simple wood. If the poster is not too busy, you can add some 3 dimensional decorations to the frame. Or.. I'd take a flat piece of plywood a little smaller than the poster and spray mount it to the wood, wrapping around the edges like a present and maybe stapling or taping, so it looks like a canvas. You can then take some plain Elmer's glue with a little water and with a paint brush, smear the glue all over the poster using random brush strokes (or follow the design in the poster). The glue will dry clear and make the poster look like a painting.
