Also, you can request a free Long Island Visitors Guide, which is similar to the Newsday FunBook, but not advertising driven, so IMO it's more balanced. As the official New York State Tourism Promotion Agency for Nassau and Suffolk, they are required to include any attractions they are aware of, and I know that when I worked there we would compare our book to the Funbook and add anything we didn't have that they did. Someone on here mentioned this book Baby Friendly Long Island Borders Westbury ordered it for me and I picked it up over the weekend and it's great. Things to do outdoors, indoors, ideas for playdates, classes for kids, etc. You can get it at Borders on LI, Book Revue in Huntington or online Scope website
